When I was coming to the UK, the first warning my younger sister who had been here a few years prior gave me was, “Boda mi (bro), no one is your friend at work. Draw the line between colleagues and friendship. You make friends outside work. Be careful of everyone, especially you-know-who (don’t want to describe but an average immigrant gets this) and mind what you say about your workplace and colleagues to them”.
