Tip 4 for Allyship: *Balance Visible Support with Respect and Action*
+ Visible support is important for the Black community and to encourage allyship in others
+ However, meaningful change requires balancing visible support with respect and action
#BlackHistoryMonth
+ Apologize for the impact, however unintentional
+ Most importantly, stop the pattern by learning from today and adjusting your actions in future

Tip 3 for Allyship: *Own your mistakes*
+ Being an ally doesn't mean you will get everything right. Everyone makes mistakes. We should aim to listen and accept feedback with grace even when it is uncomfortable.
#BlackHistoryMonth
+ When you unintentionally commit a micro-aggression, center the impacted rather than yourself and ask how they are feeling
+ Genuinely listen to their response and learn from them
When Annie Easley was hired by NASA as a "human computer," she was 1 of only 4 Black employees in her lab. She went on to become a highly skilled programmer, and developed the energy analyzer code that was used for early hybrid cars as well as rockets.
#BlackHistoryMonth
Annie's advice for anyone aspiring to a career in STEM was, "Don't give up on it. Just stick with it. Don't listen to people who always tell you it's hard, and walk away from it."
Thank you for your amazing work, Annie β€οΈ

Tip 2 for being a better Ally: *Notice, Speak Up, and Show Up*
+ Notice and name microaggressions so your Black colleague or friend doesn't have to
+ Show up in solidarity to events that support the Black community, especially around reform that is needed
