SaaS is 1992 - a short story.
In 1992, while doing general timepass with a bunch of friends, one of them said that he's won a cleaning contract of a certain soap factory. Each evening after the shift work is done, he goes there with his crew to clean up the factory floor.

I was desperate to make money.. at one point in time, I was dabbling in 7-8 different things from tutoring kids (imagine that with my level of academic performance), assembling PCs, selling boxes for spectacles, repairing electronics, selling kites (during Uttarayan), and probably 1-2 more things which I might've forgotten

[Anand Jain @helloanand]

I used to charge ₹1 per hour on my 386 to let the neighborhood kids play Dangerous Dave. Of course, as a 14yo, I had no idea about unit economics or whether charging a rupee was a profitable venture.

[Aviv Orly @BybWrly]

Remember Dangerous Dave from when we were kids?

Remember when we got stuck around level 7, and for every attempt to figure it out, we had to run through levels 1–6, just to die on level 7 again, without ever figuring it out?

Well, we remade it, and now you can choose the level!

We also made the game run smoother and added a modern-resolution option that preserves the original look and feel, just with sharper graphics!

Amazing tradition! #garba #navratri

[Sagar Patoliya @kathiyawadiii]

No matter how many dance performances you have watched, what is happening in this small courtyard in Jamnagar, Gujarat, is in a league of its own.

Men circle a tall pole, each holding a wooden stick and a colorful ribbon hanging from above.

The beat of the folk drum starts, and they begin to move. They are rotating and weaving around one another in a rapid, continuous rhythm.

Within minutes, those loose ribbons weave into a stunning, tight geometric artwork around the pole.

Then comes the moment that actually catches your breath.

They don't pause to untie anything. Keeping the exact same tempo, they simply reverse every single step. Moving backward in coordinated loops, the entire intricate pattern gradually unravels, returning to free, hanging ribbons without a single knot anywhere.

Locally, this is known as the ‘Athingo Raas’ (or the Gof Gunthan braid dance), a tradition that the Ashapura Garbi Mandal in Jamnagar has kept alive for years.

Watching this, you realize it isn't just a dance; it is living mathematics. There is zero room for mistakes. If even one person misses a single beat, the whole pattern tangles up. Centuries before modern code or algorithms, these men mastered pure geometry purely on collective muscle memory.

In a world obsessed with solo spotlights, this performance teaches a quiet lesson in humility: individual ego has no place here. You might be the best dancer in the circle, but if you don't move with the person next to you, the whole thing falls apart.

Elders here see it as a metaphor for life. We spend years getting tangled up in our own messes and conflicts. But if we simply have the patience to retrace our steps with a calm head, even the tightest knots come undone.

Scenes like this in ancient courtyards remind us of something timeless: how disciplined, thoughtful, and deeply grounded traditional art can be.

Watch closely, this dance is centuries of tradition moving in absolute harmony.

The most obvious example of a dumb LLM being integrated into a support chatbot is Swiggy. It will just do anything to keep arguing with you without actually being able to check facts.

The only hack I have figured out is to ask for a real agent to get a real conversation.

It once wasted 40 minutes of my time, arguing that the order will be there in 5 minutes, but had to be ultimately cancelled as the delivery partner was stuck somewhere.

If marketers are the Avengers, Tesseract may be their Infinity Stone.

Because in Agentic Marketing, the real power is not just the agent.

It is the customer context and decisioning underneath it.

That was my biggest takeaway from the CleverAI Summit by @CleverTap .

Everyone is building AI agents.

But an AI agent does not solve your Agentic Marketing problem if the customer data foundation underneath it is weak.

One line from the session captured it well:

“Everyone has custom agents now. There’s nothing new about it.”

The real question is: what intelligence sits underneath those agents?

For years, Tesseract DB has been CleverTap’s data engine, bringing together customer history and live behavioural signals.

Now comes the next evolution: the Tesseract Decisioning Engine, using that context to decide what should happen next for each customer.

A few lines from the sessions stayed with me:

1. “Life doesn’t wait for your next campaign.”

Customer intent changes faster than campaign calendars.

2. “Live intelligence is not about interrupting customers faster.”

Sometimes the right action is an offer. Sometimes another product. And sometimes nothing at all.

3. “Autonomy has to be earned.”

Start with a defined problem, outcome and guardrails. Then progressively increase autonomy.

4. “Our ambition has to be to create growth. It can’t be just to take credit for it.”

Their first-purchase demo showed a 25% uplift versus the control group.

The shift from attribution to incrementality is an important one.

5. “The goal is not to take marketing out of the marketer.”

The marketer remains the Avenger.

AI agents provide the leverage.

And Tesseract provides the context and decisioning power underneath them.

What also made the summit useful was seeing Agentic AI in action and hearing real brand stories of how AI is moving from experiments into everyday marketing workflows.

I had the opportunity to do a podcast with Anand Jain earlier this year. What struck me now was how quickly the platform has evolved since that conversation.

Credit to @helloanand Anand Jain, Sunil Thomas and the CleverTap leadership team for making what feels like an orbital shift.

Not simply adding AI features to CRM.

But moving from:

CRM → Context → Decisioning → Agentic Marketing

Having used CleverTap at Lenskart and across a few other companies and clients, I have always liked its balance of usability and progressive capabilities.

Now that Tesseract foundation is becoming much more interesting.

Because even Avengers need an Infinity Stone.
