We recognise that today’s news about a full ban on mobile phones in schools may be worrying for children living with type 1 diabetes and their families: https://t.co/66e89FgwS7

However, we want to offer reassurance. Current Government guidance is clear that schools must make reasonable adjustments for pupils with medical conditions. This includes supporting children with type 1 diabetes. The guidance specifically notes that pupils can use continuous glucose monitoring systems connected to a mobile phone to track their blood sugar levels, and it makes clear that preventing phone use for this purpose would not be considered reasonable.

At Breakthrough T1D, we will keep working closely with policymakers to make sure children with type 1 diabetes are protected, supported, and able to manage their condition safely. We remain committed to speaking up for our community.

41000 signatures so far! Amazing and thank you all. BUT, time is running out. We’ve only got until 20th December to get to 100000 to get this systemic issue debated in parliament. Please everyone. Type 1 diabetes is a serious condition, if not detected at a GP appointment, kills. It is not type 2 diabetes it is an autoimmune condition! It is rising, it does not care who you are, it does not care if it’s hereditary or not, it does not care if you’re healthy or unhealthy, it does not care about your ethnicity and it does not care about your age. I beg everyone on Facebook with uk citizenship, sign this petition. It is for testing where symptoms warrant it. Do it for you, do it for your mate, do it for your kids, do it for your grandkids, but most of all, do it for our beautiful little girl and everyone that has been badly treated around diagnosis of Type 1 Diabetes x #LylasLaw 💛💝🌻
