if steve jobs saw you reserving 15% screen width for a single icon and then putting a left side arrow back button on the unreachable right side of the screen he would've personally taken you behind a dumpster and beat you with a metal pipe
And too many buttons around the edges and I couldn’t find a reliable way to open/close it without messing up the screen or suddenly rotating the content.
It’s such a confusing device!
Oh and btw, wasn’t @Apple all about simplicity and no buttons and stuff like that?
I don’t like the iPhone Duo
1. It’s hard to open
It kept opening the camera because the button is right where my thumb needs to press to open the fold.
2. It’s cumbersome.
The folded mode is thick and large. It felt like holding a brick. The unfolded version is like an iPad. You need 2 hands.
3. I don’t see the purpose.
There’s nothing more I can’t do on my phone. And I’m already too addicted to it.
I’m always pro tech, but I just don’t understand this new product
He seems so incredibly triggered by @marclou 😂
Living rent free in his head for a week now
If he didn't see it as a threat, he wouldn't even react and definitely not try to ridicule Marc
(Which will have the exact opposite effect that he hopes)
So yes he sees Marc as a threat!
Every @marclou launch follows the exact same script:
"noooo you can't just sell a Next.js boilerplate for $199, look at this leaked CLI token!!"
→ fixes it in 2 hours
→ prints $1M+ with ShipFast
"noooo you can't teach coding in 2 weeks, you're not even a real senior engineer!!"
→ ships CodeFast anyway
→ $30k/mo peak ($7k/mo today)
"noooo you can't just build web analytics, attribution is hard and your tracking script has bugs!!"
→ patches every bug in public
→ DataFast is at $31k/mo
"noooo you can't just vibe-code a verified Stripe database, people are spoofing webhooks and test keys!!"
→ uses Twitter haters as free QA, patches every exploit, adds acquisitions
→ TrustMRR is now at $53k/mo
Today:
"noooo you can't just vibe-code a beehiiv alternative over the weekend, email deliverability and SES wrappers are way too hard!!"
Half of X is writing essays in his quote tweets doing free QA and giving him 500k impressions while he fixes the edge cases in prod lol 😂
Never bet against Marc
Agree!
My exp, yesterday at Holly & Ivy store,
Right before payment I saw @Shopify POS system and the store manager said yeah it’s better than square and @claudeai helped me connect to my website and inventory!
And this is a person who is very busy and not in Tech!
I'd call this a bubble in a bubble
Tech people somehow still think normies are not spinning up personal software already
They're not doing it in Claude Code in a terminal like tech people for sure
But their AI chat app is already doing it for them without them even realizing they're building personal software, like generating PDF reports, full web app dashboards and even entire web apps
That will keep getting more advanced and soon ChatGPT will just spin up a Photoshop clone (but ofc only if they need it, preferring to just do their photo edits for them)
Everyone will mostly use personal ephemeral software inside AI chat apps I think
Some software moats will remain like social media (community), ecommerce (think like Shopify and Stripe), etc but they will just be used by AI to build the personal software with
So maybe that's the point here, become a tool agents use to solve their user's problems and charge agents for it (like many are saying)
So stuff like this makes it so that plugins or apps or THINGs don’t work in chatgpt. And reason being they don’t open the gate to all/ indie hackers, and it’s always the “trusted” commercial people have access to
Build in public was always about marketing. Sometimes you’d be sharing lessons because you genuinely want other indiehackers to succeed, but that’s from an era where there was a non verbal agreement to not overlap projects with someone else, and you have X months of a technical head start anyway.
But the sharing ultimately led to benefits. More people checking out your site. More WOM. Maybe even some direct signups from X or wherever you’re sharing.
That era is dead now. There’s no tech head start anymore and the non verbal agreement has evaporated. It’s every man woman and chihuahua for themselves. There’s also so much software that nobody cares anymore. I could launch something today that would be revolutionary 2 years ago, that today nobody would bat an eye at. It’s all within reach of anyone with a max subscription.
RIP building in public. Let’s hope we find something to replace it.
But I think the game now is: can you find a space not saturated with devs where you can provide value with tech, can you shut up about it, and can you sell the solution to non technical buyers.
Long enough to make generational wealth before AGI turns us all back into fishermen and rice farmers.
Godspeed my fellow meat proxies.
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA NO WAY.
> OpenAI just announced Dots.
> SpaceXAI bought https://t.co/WdFqpl07IQ
it redirects straight to the Grok Bot download page. based lmao.
I’ve been sitting out the latest ai cycle and this past week alone a bunch of new stuff has come out
Serious FOMO for jev, muse, grok
Just can’t keep up without seriously impacting my life
When I watch a video, then it goes to the next video
Then I exit the video player
Now I wanna go back to that 2nd video
So I play the 1st video again hoping I get back to that video timeline and swipe next but now it's empty and then it shows me other videos
So the video order should be deterministic based on the first video I think
