One of the important tools we have for COVID is Early Therapeutics. These⬇️your risk of hospitalization if infected. Thanks to an amazing team, today marks 1 wk of Paxlovid @SaskHealth . If you are diagnosed with COVID, check eligibility here https://t.co/kq06Ng8fMg
@AOgieglo Hopefully they are talking about this with data collection, but we absolutely should adopt similar legislation to the US… in shifting towards full EHR capabilities, but being a public system we should attempt data standardization from the get go. This is so key.
@nkagetsu during alpha/delta I needed a refitting and due to capacity I got referred to a place that does it for industry… there’s a MACHINE that specifically MEASURES if ur mask fits w air particles. Vs the “do I taste it??? Is it just in my mind??? I can’t tell??? I’m just gonna say no”
New @CDCgov variant data is out
A good time to remind everyone the last 3 WEEKS numbers are a ‘nowcast’ (modelled, not real data)
Last wk 41% estimate of XBB.1.5 has been revised down to 18% (to 31 Dec)
The curse of the overestimated early growth rate strikes AGAIN.
Overestimation in early growth patterns is -beside travel restrictions- the second thing on a rinse and repeat cycle - yes, presumably XBB.1.5 will eventually take over from the other omicron sub-variants, but not within a few days, and will not result in a January like last year
@MathewChui Yes definitely! Haha I feel like I get the same things all the time: meat and fish in bulk to freeze, frozen veggies (also definitely worth it), there’s this nut/seed cereal I splurge on, seaweed (chip substitute), avocados when on sale, rotiessiere chicken, hot dog lunch, TP
@frozen @CBCStephenQuinn To be fair, I didn’t watch the full interview… but can anything be recommended without equivocation. I don’t think it’s fair to boil a super complex topic down to Yes/No. That’s not true, not useful, nor scientific
A (hopefully) reassuring reminder:
When people say “#COVID19 hospitalizations are rising” today that means something very different than it did even a year ago.

@HIVDocSK @fernando_ncf@dralicehan@PaulSaxMD @drlaurajwaters @sebpoule @HIVDocSK interesting. I find I deal with a lot of chaotic situations and I find the idea of a single pill regimen really good. Do you find difficulty with doing a double pill regiment?
@HIVDocSK @drtimothyli O yea agreed with @jessecouk. Have used high dose (adjustment PRN) Levo tons in the past. Although I am not the biggest fan of FQ in general. Not sure if others share my opinion. But do use FQ in general when needed due to PO.
@JustinTrudeau I feel Canadian economy is very natural resource heavy, calling into question sustainability long term (decrease in need for forestry, oil/gas,etc). Is it important we build into economies that are more self reliant (Research/Development, tech, etc)? What are ur plans to do this?
We cannot forget there is a WORLD of difference between the following:
1) You’re wrong and evil. I hate you.
2) I see+understand the argument/opinion presented. However based on my values which differ from yours, my final opinion also differs from yours. Let’s agree to disagree
For decades, Dr. Anthony Fauci has led with science to fight infectious disease. His leadership during the pandemic saved countless lives, & his commitment to evidence-based science is a key reason why public policies have been able to protect public health. ASM stands w/ Fauci.
@AOgieglo Like there’s many problems. I feel like getting to Mars + uncoupling gasoline and cars are two world changing innovations. And isn’t that enuf? I don’t really get why buying Twitter… really getting to Mars alone is probably a big enuf task to focus on 100%? (3/3)
@AOgieglo 2) he’s actually just trying to completely destroy SoMe/Twitter. I mean SoMe is leading to polarization of society which is actually a really bad problem so maybe it’s for the best.
But ultimately what I REALLY don’t understand… I agree polarization is a problem. But (2/3)
