freeway removal through Atlanta is largely impractical in the short term, but we should remove John Lewis Freedom Parkway and replacing it with a surface boulevard. JLFP is a relic of I-485 and is underutilized. removal would reconnect downtown w/ the old 4th ward
@conorsen@Patrick49012564@ajlamesa I feel like most people really don't understand the GA gubernatorial election. Personally I am just beginning to understand the primary. This and the supreme court results once again demonstrate failures in party leadership.
@LathburyJason@barely_th3re Just thinking it would be a temporary solution for Marta to reach Cobb and still at a station that has both Doraville and North Springs lines. Could be replaced by Armour should it be built and a stop at Piedmont/Shepherd seems pretty natural here as well.
@LathburyJason@barely_th3re Could you connect to Lindbergh instead? (Armour if it is ever built). These tracks are still in use but might be able to add another set.
Rode the @MARTAservice Rapid A line a couple of times this morning.
For the first time in 25 years in Atlanta, I walked out of my house to catch a bus without consulting a schedule! Frequency is Freedom!
The line has a ton of potential - but also a lot of kinks to work out.
Atlanta has seen major changes over the last several years.
There's legit criticism possible regarding the specifics of development, but I appreciate how much nicer it is to walk beside windows and storefronts versus parking lots and abandoned, littered properties.
@conorsen The person who has cleaned our house for over a decade told us after the 2024 election: 1. she can't vote. 2. If she could it would have been for Trump because she wants to be able to afford a better house.
Adair Park data center site plan is π
Land use proposed is disrespectful to neighbors & the cityβ¦ AND the site plan with sea of parking in what was an active area & block from MARTAβ¦
Digital Realty leads GLOBAL market share & has money to design better, elsewhere.
Light rail was the primary intention for the Beltline to be created in the first place. I simply don't understand how decision makers aren't keeping the main thing the MAIN thing π π
@MikeConti929@JackNicolaus If this city continues to be successful and grow the car traffic will get worse. There is not a solution within the city that involves more roads or highways. Sadly many are standing in the way of rail transportation but we can at least build the "last mile" infrastructure.
