It’s hard to keep describing how you feel on your 9th album… but this is a special one to me, some of the most vulnerable moments I’ve ever had. The idea of losing your loved ones while at the same time losing pieces of yourself as we all get older, closer to the end of our brief journey, something we all think about but forget how connected we really are because of it. No matter our background and surface level qualities, we are all human beings that live, love, and die. Life is just the waiting room in between.

The further I go down the path, the more I realize how much bigger the music is than I personally will ever be. The phantom is not the demon or the ghost of the past. The phantom is me. I am the the vessel, the figure in the shadows. And as Derek Pope grows, the me I knew before slowly disappears. But I wouldn’t have it any other way.
