@AdnanHussainMP Because people find it icky? We’re hardwired to think pregnant people are to be protected and this stunt goes against that. Nothing to do with the abortion argument, eejit
@DanielPipe85878@nebx500@GBPolitcs Pedantry won’t save you from your safety net being pennies on the pound, chief. Hope it’s not physical labour too, would suck for you to wear your body out while you rally against people’s ability to take a break
@DanielPipe85878@nebx500@GBPolitcs So your own company is shit and can’t afford to pay you more than SSP? Sorry to hear that, good luck with the future buddy
@tomhfh@MatthewTorbitt To be fair, some MPs not holding themselves to such a high standard doesn’t mean that other MPs that maybe do work their arses off can’t burn out, and that said MP can’t hold guilt at lowering their standard.
@CounsellingSam@Mina_ffs I hear you, but that’s also somewhat irrelevant. The important thing is that he will move the Overton window leftwards. He’s going to do things we disagree with for sure but he’ll move the conversation leftwards (assuming he does halfway decently)
@CounsellingSam@Mina_ffs This isn’t wrong but it’s also irrelevant. It benefits us on the left if a left leaning politician can come into power and do good things. It moves the Overton window leftwards, which we, and the country need.
@JosephW56436640@EllieChowns@TheGreenParty Actively pushing the idea that MPs should donate their salary only benefits wealthy folk who don’t need the salary to live. It’s good that Ellie is in the position to do that, but certainly doesn’t mean everyone is, nor should it be a sign of virtue flung at other politicians
