Neurology was a scary subject during my undergraduation. Our fervent prayer was not to get a hemiplegic patient as a long case in the final MBBS Medicine practical exam. CVS or abdomen was fine. Even respiratory was a nightmare.
Come, internship and i had to take Neurology as a 2 week elective. The very first day, i was asked to present a case. It was a case of PSP and i had never heard of this disease before. I practically ran away from the ward and surfaced only after a few days. My interest in Neurology blossomed only during my MD in Internal medicine, after I was forced to present a traumatic complex brachial plexopathy as a long case. Coupled with some enigmatic teachers, finally Neurology looked interesting.
The wheel came full circle and my DM long case again turned out be PSP-FTD, by which time i was well versed in movement disorders and Parkinsonism.
Funny, how you interpret the same situation at different times of your life. Nearly the exact same presentations, once i ran away with Neurophobia, and the second time, I was head over heels with neurology and a 'Neurophilic'

Grateful to have matched!
I know this is a difficult time for those who are going into SOAP. I am here to help in any capacity I can. My DM is open! You got this!

Update: I unfortunately did not match this cycle. I will be participating in #SOAP2026 and actively looking for any open residency positions.
If you know of programs with unfilled spots or are open to connecting, I would be grateful for your guidance.
