Your coffee habit is doing more than just waking you up!
New research in Nature Communications (2026) shows that coffee actually "rewires" your gut-brain axis.
Here is the breakdown of why your daily cup is a health powerhouse:
1️⃣ Coffee promotes "good" bacteria like Eggerthella, which helps your digestion and keeps the "bad" bugs at bay.
2️⃣ Decaf coffee was specifically linked to better memory and learning, thanks to its rich antioxidants (polyphenols).
3️⃣ Regular caffeinated coffee reduced anxiety and improved focus while lowering body-wide inflammation.
4️⃣ Both regular and decaf drinkers reported lower stress and better moods. It is not just the caffeine; it is the coffee itself!
✅The Bigger Picture:
Recent studies from Harvard and the UK Biobank (2025-2026) also suggest that 2-3 cups of unsweetened coffee daily could lower the risk of Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s by nearly 30%.
Bottom line:
Your coffee is a complex "superfood" for your microbes and your mind. Keep brewing! ☕️

So fun doing research with Codex. the friction of making tiny throwaway tools is basically gone. wanted to quickly visualize some results to spot-check them, so I went to jspaint → sketched for 20 seconds → asked Codex to spin up a tool.
makes it so much easier to bring your head above building tools to improve research and instead focus on big-picture ideas
Eid Mubarak to everyone. This eid is special because so many of my friends matched after years of hardwork grit and perseverance. Rooting and praying for all of you

Should residents & fellows bill?
A single resident can provide >$300k/yr in uncompensated care due to outdated @CMSGov rules.
Our @NEJM paper proposes a competency-based framework to capture this revenue, improve trainee pay, and offset massive debt. #MedTwitter#MedEd#GME
I had this article bookmarked for some time; finally getting around to reading it.
It's an extremely thoughtful and detailed take on how LLMs can augment the work done by specialists, and what this can look like practically. Highly, highly recommend my medicine mutuals to have a read - I think there are a lot of parallels to think about from what is really well-described here!
This bit near the beginning particularly resonates with my feelings about favoring a well-configured general LLM for clinical use, rather than domain-specific clinical AI tools.

In aUC treated with EVP, early ctDNA reduction (≥50% or ≥90%) was strongly associated with improved PFS and OS!
However, baseline ctDNA levels were not predictive.
