@CFigueres @WWF_SpecEnvoy Stopping biodiversity loss would be great. But this is no graph, its a diagram. The y axis has no named indicator or unit. Vagueness like this is overwhelming work on nature, no direction is chosen so "there" is undefined. I suggest chosing an indicator for diagram like this.

@AssaadRazzouk China is also still building more new coal plants than the rest of the world combined. Commentators on Twitter do need to understand nuance between hero and villian is possible and, in fact, desirable.

@RHarrabin @AAPresident @crisortunity It would be madness to build a new UK engine plant now - eg Brigdend engine plant shut down. Its the HQ of a JV. If @RHarrabin believes its an announcement of a new plant, he has made a mistake. Happy to bet it never opens an UK ICE engine plant.

@drvolts I have worked on various pathway type projects to plot a course to zero in lots of sectors. But knowing how to do and being to afford how to do it with put affecting the price of education, healthcare, food as well as the frivolous stuff are completely different things.

@ProfMarkMaslin I dont disagree with climate change science, but I dont think a scientist should distribute such a poor chart. Misleading title, cut the x axis at a non zero number for no good reason, no colour key to the bars.

@AukeHoekstra @Toyota So I would say PHEVs whilst the world builds enough mines and BEV charge points is not nonsense. Of course you can have a view that it is a wasted opportunity, but equating the Toyota view with the mis information on this subject is unfair. Also I do not own a Toyota!

@AukeHoekstra @Toyota Auke, as much as I like your work in general, I think it is possible to hold the Toyota view in good faith. EV production is rising faster than supply of materials for batteries as it takes 18 months to build a new car plant and about 8 years to open a new mine.

@sriramk @elonmusk Makes sense to to get new product to user. To do this where there is already a good product, lots of happy users, but a gap in revenue seems weird to me.

It's almost like they want to make an infra/product crisis to avoid thinking about other things. but hey what would I know.

@BBCJustinR great report on challenges of insulating homes this am. The houses reported on probably have heating costs of £800 a year. If it costs £33,000 to reduce £800 to say £0 heating then payback is 41 years. I think @ChiefExecCCC and policymakers are optimistic on costs.

@RTwin83 @GeorgeMonbiot yes I agree its bad, and I think there should be more restrictions on trawling. Can you draw a line and saw more emissions than aviation to atmosphere? No, not on the basis of this paper, in my view.

Having studied ecology, I would rather we use the science written in the paper, not what is their head already. Old fashioned and boring, I know. Your definition of groundless must be a treat! @carbonfunfact @RTwin83 @GeorgeMonbiot That could be, though the paper states that it has not even an estimate of that, hence my concern of calling it a missing piece. IPCC data shows ocean flux already, so I do not this is not a hidden source of emissions. Either way, trawling is not great.
