@LBDAgov , @SafaricomFDN and @USTADI_Fndtn are happy to share that the Wezesha Agri-Eco Hub is creating impact beyond the youth it trains by strengthening the local vegetable value chain. Through climate-smart irrigated vegetable production, the Hub provides a reliable, year-round supply of vegetables to approximately 10 regular traders, with demand increasing during the dry season.

Before joining the Wezesha III Agri-Eco Hub in 2025, Rebecca ran a small poultry brooding enterprise, managing 𝟱𝟬–𝟭𝟬𝟬 𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗸𝘀 𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗰𝘆𝗰𝗹𝗲 and earning 𝗞𝗘𝗦 𝟱,𝟬𝟬𝟬–𝟭𝟬,𝟬𝟬𝟬 from each sales cycle. Through the project, she has strengthened her skills in poultry brooding and husbandry, disease prevention and management, customer relations, marketing, agribusiness, and enterprise management, enabling her to expand and build a loyal customer base.

The signs of a promising harvest are now evident across the rice fields of Kimira-Oluch Irrigation Scheme in Homabay Couny. The well-filled panicles and healthy crop stand are a testament to the hard work of our farmers and the impact of strategic investments in irrigation and agricultural support.

As we edge closer to harvest, we remain confident of increased yields that will enhance household incomes, strengthen food security, and contribute to the growth of the rice value chain in the Lake Region. Through continued support to farmers, Lake Basin Development Authority is advancing sustainable agriculture and delivering on the Government’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).

During the session, I highlighted the Lake Basin Development Authority’s (LBDA) progress in advancing aquaculture, agriculture, environmental conservation, and investment initiatives across the Lake Region. I also outlined our efforts in strengthening value chains, promoting climate resilience, enhancing partnerships, and mobilizing resources to drive sustainable socio-economic transformation.

@CarrenAgengo the PS for @ChildServicesKE, accompanied by PS for @Trade_Kenya, Regina Ombam, today flagged off Bulk Milk Coolers at Muhoroni, officially handing over 1,000-litre capacity coolers to the Authority's Muhoroni Integrated Technology Transfer Centre (ITTC) through the Board Chairman, Mr. James Waore Diang'a.

This strategic initiative is designed to strengthen the region's Livestock Value Chain by enhancing milk preservation, reducing post-harvest losses, increasing milk supply, and improving earnings for dairy farmers.

The Lake Basin Development Authority (LBDA) remains steadfast in its mandate to drive inclusive socio-economic development across the region through targeted, impactful interventions.

Public service, for me, is a conscious commitment to impact lives, shaped by experience in both private and public sectors.

It is demanding work defined by persistence, responsibility and purpose, where progress often comes after sustained effort against doubt and resistance.

I have also learned that leadership is not only about delivery but about people; safeguarding mental wellbeing, staying grounded in healthy habits and remaining connected to communities, especially the youth and emerging leaders.

Ultimately, setbacks are part of the journey, and it helps to remember that challenges are shared experiences, not personal isolation.
