@speakbetty It’s just that the whole x account gets ill or sectioned, then y person swoops in to keep everyone updated thing is such a classic Twitter lie. It’s been done to death, and about 95% of the time it’s made up, so you can’t really blame people for being sceptical
@nootertooterz@RastaAmaretti im not assuming anything either, just pointing out that its a detail that doesnt make sense or add up. but faked deaths on twitter for engagement are extremely common, its just worth keeping in mind
Cell phone addiction is an absolute thermonuke to the brain and nobody 'takes it seriously' because it is not clear that there is any solution in a world where the revealed preference of everyone across the globe, regardless of income, race, age, any factor whatsoever, would rather be on their phone than do *anything* else. Deciding "I use this too much" and meaningfully altering one's behaviour doesn't seem to have much success for any of the very small minority of people with the sentience or self-reflection to realize how bad it is. Most people seem to think of it as an unproductive habit at most, rather than an addiction. Any attempt to speak seriously about this is met with derision, accusations of pretentiousness. There is no real solution to it. The future of human cognition fifty years down the line is horrifying if you stop and think about it for even a moment.
Choosing porn as the place to start this very obvious campaign to police our online access is so clever. Who wants to be publicly seen as championing incest and choking porn? It’s definitely a slippery slope though, that should worry people a little
Just realised as well. Because there's a possession charge - You go on the sex offender's register for watching someone get choked now. Which will both ruin lives AND make actual sex criminals have an easier time since it means being on the register COULD be serious crime or could be 'watched washing machine stepbro porn' one time, thus diluting it.
