1/5 Today, I’m sharing 7yrs of work. I believe we discovered a comprehensive mapping from protein structure to glycan structure, a genetic encoding for specific glycans, and a new paradigm in extracellular biology.

When I visited @harvardmed in 2016 for my medical school interview, I was awed by the marble buildings and legacy of doctors who had once stepped foot on the campus.
But I wondered whether a kid like me, a kid who grew up poor and homeless, belonged at a place like Harvard.

Data from the southern hemisphere that the current vaccine reduces influenza associated hospitalizations by 52%. If the same viral strains predominate during The upcoming flu season in the northern hemisphere, we would anticipate similar vaccine efficacy. https://t.co/9KwXwIHKHj
@PKBurian Peter, I’m not sure the point you are trying to make here. Vaccines decrease the chance of death and decrease the chance you’ll give COVID to somebody else. My point is we need to vaccinate the whole world, or we’ll just keep on getting new variants like omicron.
Great article on how to use Rapid COVID-19 tests. Biggest points to stress:
-Test right before your gathering
-They help identify if you’ll get somebody else sick (transmit) in the next few hours
Right @michaelmina_lab ?

Omicron is here - what has omicron and the other VOCs taught us so far?
SARS-CoV-2 will continue to mutate its RBD and evade RBD-focused immunity, vaccines and monoclonal antibody therapies. (1/n)
@jeffpears0n Great resource! Should we say neutralization instead of susceptibility since these fold reductions are in vitro tests of viral neutralization rather than ability to block/treat viral infection?
We want to acknowledge the many collaborators on and off Twitter who contributed to this effort and the patients and families whose dedication to improving COVID-19 care made this research happen.
Stay tuned, there is more to come. (8/n)
