A young girl on a hospital floor. Twisting and turning in excruciating pain. Both legs reduced to bloody stumps. Wild eyed. Perhaps screaming inside ‘what did I do?’. Her butt burned off. Her genitals seemed burned as well. Covered in dust. We know there is no water. We know there is no anesthesia. Folks who had the last bit of empathy and human dignity squeezed out of them by forces unknown comment: ‘Her parents voted for Hamas.’ or ‘So what? Hamas did the same on October 7th’. To be fine with the most extreme variant of pain a human being is able to feel all inflicted upon someone who hours ago was just a blossoming young girl who had dreams and aspirations and wanted to learn and grow surrounded by her loved ones.
Will she survive? Will she go through the worst hell a person can go through for the next three or four days? Alone, with the screaming of others wounded like her drowning out her own screaming? Dying alone in a hospital turned into complete pandemonium, wishing her parents would show up… My dear fellow human beings, this is what we are allowing and there are people using what little intelligence and creativity they have to tell us that this is the right thing to do, that in fact it is to be applauded.

Today is #InternationalPrimateDay; a time to highlight the plight of nonhuman primates & the threats they face - especially long-tailed #macaques, exploited & persecuted by the global research & testing industry. Please take action on their behalf: https://t.co/VZvzwofRNr
I don’t know who will care about what I’m saying, but something very serious has been happening in Gaza for the past few days, and it is happening repeatedly in a deeply frightening way.
Late at night, while families are asleep, special forces enter areas where displaced people are gathered and arrest men from among their families, in front of their wives and children, before taking them to unknown locations.
This happened yesterday, it happened today, and it has happened in the days before as well. And one question keeps haunting all of us: Why is this happening? Where are they taking these men? What will happen to them? And why are they entering areas where displaced people are staying in the middle of the night and taking men away from their families?
No one tells us anything. We don’t know who will be next, whether those detained will ever return to their families, or even what awaits them after they are taken away.
This is no longer a single incident that can simply be ignored. It is something happening repeatedly right in front of us, and it seems to be happening more and more. We are living with unanswered questions and a very real fear that one of us could be next, without knowing why or where they will take us.
Today I watched four children, none of them older than twelve, follow a woman through the street, shouting obscene insults and making sexually explicit remarks. A few of us stepped in to stop them, but they answered us with the same language, as though obscenity had become their first language.
For a moment, I was angry. Then I looked at them.
They were barefoot. Their skin was burned by the sun. They belonged to the tent camps, where childhood has been been replaced by survival.
What I saw was not innocence. But neither was it ordinary evil.
What is a child who has learned obscenity before kindness? What becomes of a conscience that has never been given the chance to grow? At what point does guilt remain personal, and at what point does it become the reflection of a society that has forgotten how to protect its children?
A child is responsible for his actions. But no child invents this darkness alone.
Someone teaches it. If not a parent, then the street. If not the street, then the war itself.
This is the face of war that no casualty report records.
We count the dead because they are easier to count than the living who have been changed. We measure the destroyed buildings because concrete is simpler to rebuild than a human soul. We speak of reconstruction as though rebuilding walls were enough.
But who rebuilds a child’s moral world? Who teaches respect to a generation that has learned survival before compassion? Who returns childhood to those who have never known it?
That is why I cannot celebrate projects that speak only of marriage and childbirth while children are still growing up in tents, while more than ninety percent of Gaza’s schools lie in ruins, and while education has been interrupted for years.
A tent may shelter a body. It cannot raise a human being.
And what are we creating if children are born into a world where survival is the first lesson, and dignity the last?
People ask whether the war is over.
I wonder whether they understand what war really destroys.
Not only homes. Not only hospitals. Not only lives.
Its deepest victory is that, little by little, it persuades children to inherit a darkness they never chose.
How do you declare the end of a war when its ruins have learned to speak, to walk, and one day, perhaps, to become parents themselves?

It took a little longer than expected, but we have created a website for people to view the footage collected from Gaza in one place. You no longer have to download the entire archives to see them.
It includes:
64,537 videos
17,905 photos
Ability to download individual videos
Searchable index
Exhaustive sources list (300+ journalists)
Geolocation data
Livemap with minute to minute updates
Victim list
It can be accessed here: https://t.co/s0Se94PXWF
Please share & quote tweet to help this post break out of the twitter algorithm prison.
We will keep adding the rest of the archives to the site, be patient- it is difficult work. Continue to seed the torrents provided, as that is the best way to ensure the footage remains stored in decentalized way.
God bless all those who sacrificed their lives to get this footage out, and everyone invovled in collecting/archiving it.
