@danitasteinberg Needed to hear this today. I’ve been trying even after most people around me gave up, but I’ll be honest, the inconvenience of it has led to me not masking too many times when I should have the last few years. I’m ashamed to admit this election was my wake up call.
i bought a new car battery and it was like $220 and the girl at auto zone said “wanna see how much it would cost if you needed 99 of them?” and i said “okay” so she typed 99 in the quantity and the price went to $23000 and she said “thats how much it would cost” and i said “okay”
It took me longer than I’m willing to admit to realize Greta Gerwig and Greta Thunberg were two different people. I thought that little girl was making movies now.
You know what’s tragic? In real life I am terrified of chickens, but if me and my wife were muppets, she would be Camilla the chicken because I am obviously gonzo and we must be in love. Why do I fear what I love most?
“Passing” is not a bad thing, but it is a privilege and not necessarily for every trans person and cis-passing people need to realize that not everyone can or wants to pass.
Not to mention that marriage equality was predominantly for cis white gay men. It wasn’t about queer liberation. It was about taking part in the same governmental practices as everyone else. It was the barest of bare minimums. It didn’t address anything marginalized people face
Thinking about how marriage equality is seen as the pinnacle of queer liberation when it isn’t even a starting point. When your goal is to allow more ppl to take part in the same patriarchal bullshit structure instead of dismantling that structure you’re off on the wrong foot.
