After being posed the question of how they were faring, Captain Ernest McSorley answered, "We are holding our own." After that, less than ten minutes later she would disappear off of the SS Arthur M Anderson's radar scope. She and all 29 of her crew would go to the bottom of Lake Superior. She was the largest ship to ever sink on the Great Lakes and the true definitive cause of her demise is still up to speculation to this day.
