@Reddit has games? Yup, and they're starting to finally push them out to users now (saw in my feed for the 1st time today).
Yet another consumer app behemoth adding games (Discord, Youtube, Telegram, Netflix)... really, the easier question at this point is which hasn't yet!
Surprisingly, game monetization is already possible. AND, Reddit just started an engagement payout program on April 1. Though the ceiling is fairly low on payouts at the moment, as a dev it's good to see incentives to build.
worth checking out Carmack's OG post– the impact of further opening up + diversifying creation is underrated imo, esp. considering that the impact of this has already been proven out multiple times over (tiktok / other social media, UGC, Roblox, etc.....)
Carmack perfectly sums up our thoughts on building out AI tooling for pro-game development.
"AI tools will allow the best to reach even greater heights, while enabling smaller teams to accomplish more, and bring in some completely new creator demographics." - @ID_AA_Carmack
50hrs of past playtime minimum apparently! Creative tactic to make sure the consoles go directly to players, not scalpers. I'm all for it. (*flashbacks to trying to get a hold of a PS5 back in 2020*...)
Nintendo has a plan to challenge Switch 2 scalpers. It's limiting its own preorders to Switch 1 owners that have an active Switch Online membership and have "spent a certain amount of time playing purchased / paid Nintendo Switch games, prioritizing those with more playtime."
@waitbutwhy Literally, same but last week. Wework office with no window, I had no idea how bad it gets! AFAIK ventilation is the only way. Even if you can keep a door open for a little bit to a hallway/larger room, it helps a ton.
@TimSweeneyEpic As an ex-annual frosty keytag holder and someone who can slam a sleeve of thin mints in one sitting…. probably a good thing I don’t have a Wendy’s nearby 🤣
Hyped for this year's Tech Week, our SF Tech Week event in Oct. was a blast 🔥 Here's a short highlight from Parikshit, VP of Eng @ Voldex (which just last month acquired the most popular game on Roblox!!) on what excites him most about the next gen of gaming platforms
If you’ve hosted at Tech Week before, you definitely know @13dominos13 😆
Now she’s giving the inside scoop on how you can bring your community together and host an event for NY/SF/LA TechWeek 🎤✨
Got an idea? A killer panel? A happy hour? Something totally unexpected? 🏆 go to https://t.co/iHRSAqCKfx ...the earlier, the better!

@lennysan@duolingo "Wholesome and unhinged" describes them so perfectly lol. Def not for every co but that's what exactly makes it so good. Even more risky as a product that is for almost everybody, but, just goes to show company values *should* aim to be polarizing rather than squishy and generic
@immasiddx Not nearly as bad as 1 GIGABYTE for a dictionary 😭 It’s my preferred app for literally 15 years but I still can’t believe it every time I see the space it takes up
@rom1trs Flighty is fantastic. One of the few apps that offers weekly subs which it's the perfect use case for (and is indeed how they've successfully monetized me in the past!)
What happens when you use @emmanuel_2m Scenario to generate a super cool Troll and quickly convert it to 3D?
It was literally 8 steps to get this from Scenario into a 3D animated asset in Unreal Engine.
I'll show the steps below.
was pretty neat seeing @MarkSuperDev going from text->img->3d->animated character in UE in literally a matter of 15 min while experimenting with some tooling last week.
sharing his OG thread below w/the specific steps to try it out yourself!
@MarkSuperDev@amytongwu ICL, but the doc that did mine also does a ton of SMILE procedures as well. Good luck and welcome soon to the glasses-free life @amytongwu!
