• An email audience

• AI fluency

This is not an argument against employment.

It is an argument against relying on only one source of identity, income and opportunity.

NYC is peak unless you have a family. No one with more than 1 kid finds NYC desirable. Even 1 kid makes NYC insanely expensive and a struggle. NYC lifestyle has an expiration date somewhere in your earlt to mid-30s, unless you want to age childless, which makes the NYC lifestyle not worth it.

Thankfully for them, most Americans have never traveled the world or gone to another country, so they are blissfully living in their semblances of cities unaware there are other ways to do it.

My 3 and 4 year olds go to preschool 3 days a week. My 4 year old has his best friend there and can’t wait to play with him on those days. They have lots of art and learning activities including 1 hour of outside play per day. They learn to dance for fall and Christmas festivals and enjoy the practice. They also love their 2 days home with me. Feels like the best of both worlds.

Accounts on X that are doom and gloom about socialization of young kids are honestly just clickbaity and gross. There’s no need to create mom guilt because you choose to raise your children this way.

If you’re ‘homeschooling’ your kids while scrolling and posting on X trying to get clicks and follows to earn revenue, then you’re depriving your children of learning opportunities. Stay real.

Mamdani announces city-run groceries will set prices *30%* below retail.

Typical grocery margins are 2%.
Meaning:

First, the city will lose ungodly amounts of money -- at least 28 cents on the dollar.

Second, below-cost stores will steal enough market share that real groceries abandon the city.

Third, taxpayers will get tired of the money hole and slash subsidies.

At which point city groceries become money holes full of rotting food, so New Yorkers will have to take 2 trains and a bus to find a real grocery store.

Socialism will work this time 🙌
