No need to panic but a lot to ponder

1. Shot selection: The batters would put their hands up and accept their shot selection wasn't the best. The high risk-high reward approach when it clicks it pays off but on some days it backfires

2. Wicket-taking options v batting depth

Varun Chakaravarthy had a rare bad day and India struggled I'm the middle overs with no wicket taking options. Would it be prudent to get an extra wrist spinner? Axar v Zimbabwe should be considered as only one batter in Top 7 is a LHB. Wicket taking option means top 4 has to take more responsibility. Should Suryakumar walk in at 3 henceforth? Rinku at 8 v wicket-taking option could be something worth deliberating

3. Support for Bumrah

4 overs 15 runs 3 wickets
Bumrah was exceptional but other bowlers struggled a lot post PP. India need to support Bumrah and sustain the pressure from both ends

4. Quality of a player v match-ups

Sometimes match-ups are overrated. A quality player will find a way to excel. India focussed a lot on the match-up: LHB v off-spin but at all times there was LHB-RHB to counter any threat.

Instead the focus could've been change ups in 7-15. India will surely come back stronger but SA's counterattack especially v Varun saw India having no back up plan

One loss hasn't finished our campaign but now India has no option but to play fearless cricket. It is better to have a bad day now than in SF or final. The nature of T20 cricket allows comebacks.

After loss to NZ at Johannesburg in the Super 8, no one gave India a chance. Dhoni's team won their next 4 games to win the World Cup.

Nothing is impossible.

A setback will be followed by a strong comeback.
