Many have said something similar to this, but the problem with it is that it seems to foreclose on my actual position, which is not at all ambiguous, which is that while I am not really in favor of revisiting suffrage, I do think that the gender gaps are becoming more noticeable in a way that’s going to make these kinds of conversations unavoidable.

At the very least, people are going to find that they need to remember how to defend things they thought were settled.

And from the quality of my mentions today, I would just say that they should get practicing.

It doesn’t actually do anything for the characters, the plot, any theme beyond what’s in the scene already. It’s just as valid to say your scene makes it less funny by lessening the subtext of the security theatre these checks are

Fandom has an unavoidable almost fatal case of self policing for authenticity that overcorrects rather than fail to identify
