Did you know why the Igbos & Yam can never be separated?!
Igbos and Yam have history & it will remain in the book of record till eternity.
The Igbo tribe of Nigeria are the ones that domesticated Yam from the wild species.
Yes! You read that right, the Igbos domesticated wild weed Dioscorea abyssinica and D. praehensili and through selective breeding they created magic which is Yam around 5000 BCE that's like 7,024 years ago!
The Portuguese came across Yam in the 15th century, when they started exploring West Africa. Yam moved to America during the 5|ave trade as yam was included as food provision for African on those ships.
During the 16th century, the Portuguese and Spanish colonizers introduced yam cultivation to Brazil and Caribbean territories. £n5|av€d Africans from yam growing regions transferred their agricultural expertise to plantation systems in Brazil.
The colonial powers recognized yams as valuable provision crops for feeding £n5|av€d populations on sugar plantations, reducing operational costs by having £n5|av€d laborers cultivate their own sustenance (yam).
18th century, yam production supported the expansion of sugar plantation economies by providing reliable, culturally familiar food sources for £n5|av€d workers, reducing planters’ expenditures on imported provisions.
You see, without the Igbos what would the £n5|av€d people survived on?
This post is to massively appreciate the Igbos & their ancestors for making a huge mark in history through domesticating a food crop that would change the course of history & a source of huge GDP for Nigeria.
The yearly Igbo New Yam Festival (Iri Ji), which celebrates the harvest of yams in Nigeria is not because the Igbos love yam, it is because the tribe birthed Yam and with such history it is important to celebrate it.
Shout out to Igbos 🙌🫡😀
f you're an Igbo son/daughter reading this, you should be proud!

STOP SCAPEGOATING THE IGBOS!
Some enemies of Nigeria are steering the country toward another tragedy—another pogrom—by once again scapegoating the Igbos, just as they did in 1966, when over 30,000 Igbos were massacred in Northern Nigeria. They now claim that the Igbos “hate Nigeria” and “want to burn it down.” But no other group has invested more energy, talent, and resilience in building this nation.
The Igbos have lived, worked, and thrived across every corner of Nigeria—not out of hatred, but out of faith in what this country could be. To speak out against injustice is not to hate Nigeria. It is to demand a better Nigeria for everyone.
True love for a nation means telling it the truth, not silencing those who do. If we truly love this country, then only love and truth can heal it—not hate and scapegoating. If we cannot fix Nigeria with love, we have no right to condemn those who simply want to live in peace.
🕊️ Let’s stop another pogrom before it begins.
🕊️ Let’s end the hate.
🕊️ Let’s face the truth.
🕊️ Seeking a better Nigeria is not hating Nigeria.
🕊️ Nigeria must solve its problems with honesty, justice, and love.
Nigeria is a country of many nations—let love win.
#TheseAreYourLeaders Episode I.
Alli Ndume.
Federal lawmaker since 2003. Still, a Senator.
First Boko Haram member, Konduga, to be convicted was arraigned alongside Ndume in 2011. Konduga pled guilty and was jailed.
Konduga was later re-arrested at Ndume’s Maiduguri residence in 2016.
Ndume was investigated and charged in 2011 for allegedly passing classified information to Boko Haram’s spokesman. He denied it.
Remanded by the EFCC in 2020 after acting as Abdulrasheed Maina’s surety in a ₦2bn fraud case when Maina jumped bail. Released after days in custody.
Still sits in the Senate.
These are your leaders.
The latest threat by U.S. President Donald Trump @POTUS to launch military action in Nigeria, allegedly to protect Christians, may sound appealing to some. Still, history has shown this to be perilous.
Whether you are Christian, Muslim, animist, or non-religious, no one should celebrate such rhetoric. The United States and its allies have a long record of military interventions that leave nations more unstable than before. They failed to secure peace in Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, or Syria, and they won’t bring salvation to Nigeria through bombs or boots on the ground.
What Nigeria truly needs is not a foreign savior, but legitimate, accountable leadership, one that protects all citizens, upholds justice, and ends the cycles of corruption and violence that have left the nation broken.
@realDonaldTrump does not care about Nigerians not Christians, Muslims, or anyone else. Our deliverance will never come from abroad; it must come from within, through real leadership (not the Tinubus of this world) and national renewal. #RevolutionNow

This is Umar Farouk Abdulmuttalab.
He’s a nigerian terrorist, a nepo-baby Islamic extremist, also known as the underwear bomber.
On Christmas Day 2009, he got on a flight and attempted to kill 289 people with a bomb he put in his underwear. He was only 23years old when he attempted this terrorist barbarism act.
He confirmed he worked with Al qaeda who gave him the bomb and Al qaeda also confirmed he worked for them. He is currently imprisoned at ADX Florence, the supermax federal prison in Colorado.
He is currently serving four consecutive life sentences (plus an extra 50years without any possibility of parole). In simple terms, he will die in prison.
If he was in Nigeria,
He would be out of prison by now,
And he will be running to be Governor of a state under the terrorist party of Nigeria. And there will be many lunatic idiot influencers on this platform who will gladly campaign, promote and defend him.
