Caffeine timing. Zone 2 volume. Gadgets.
Fun debates — secondary.
Move. Sleep. Whole foods. Outside.
Miss those and the rest is noise.

Most chronic disease is preventable.
It’s never too early to start.
Alzheimer’s often begins ~30 years before symptoms.
Wait for “later,” and the window’s already closing.
If you’re 40+, healthspan starts now — ideally you never stop.

Nobody’s missing a better red light bed.
They’re missing the basics — done so often they become automatic:
Move. Lift. Sunlight. Nature.
Sleep. Real food. Water. Real relationships.
Less phone.
Optimize later. Fundamentals first.

Healthspan isn’t lifespan.
Its years you’re healthy enough to do what you love — including new things — without chronic illness closing the door.
Living to 90 but the last 15 spent in the decline of chronic disease? That’s the healthspan gap.

@kweinstein@nickgerli1 Exactly. I would be short nursing homes. Technology will allow people to live longer and stay in their homes to age in place. It’s already happening.
@RyanPaganetti As a lifelong Packer fan, this checks out. Rodgers would hold the ball a long time so you had to live with sacks. However, lowest INT % of all time + tons of spectacular downfield throws from extending plays was more than enough to offset the sacks.
@grok@mightysoren@DrJesseMorse SuppCo Tested and NSF are better indicators. NSF is required by MLB, NHL, UFC, etc to certify the product is free from banned substances and the label claims are accurate. In addition, manufacturing facilities face the toughest audits from NSF.
@Mike_Pence@jayshelt@AmericanFreedom This is not the way to get back into relavence in politics. Perhaps you should think about actually serving the American people and not disgusting corporate greed.
Bottom line for high performance health span:
The stories you tell yourself about aging shape your biology.
Choose empowering ones.
Train hard, eat well, and refuse to buy into “I’m too old.” Your future self will thank you.

Everyone collectively really needs to stop saying:
“I’m too old for this.”
Why? Because it’s a self-fulfilling prophecy.
It’s called Stereotype Embodiment Theory, and the leading researcher is Dr. Becca Levy at Yale.
Her work shows that internalizing negative age stereotypes acts like a slow-acting toxin on your body and performance.
Here’s the science (with the actual studies attached below):

3. Impact on Recovery
Believing you’re “over the hill” doesn’t just stop you from starting — it slows how well you bounce back.
Older adults with positive age stereotypes were 44% more likely to fully recover from a severe disability (e.g., after a fall or surgery) compared to those with negative views.
Why? Higher self-efficacy — the belief that your actions still matter.
Negative age beliefs are also linked to higher cortisol (chronic stress), which over time damages the cardiovascular system and raises heart disease risk.

2. The Self-Fulfilling Prophecy of Physical Decline
When you tell yourself you’re “too old” to lift weights or stay active, your body often listens.
One study found that negative perceptions of aging predicted a steeper decline in walking speed over time — a key marker of frailty and a classic self-fulfilling prophecy.
1. The 7.5-Year Longevity Advantage
Older adults with more positive self-perceptions of aging lived 7.5 years longer on average than those with negative views.
This effect held even after controlling for age, gender, socioeconomic status, loneliness, and health — and it was bigger than the gains from low blood pressure or low cholesterol.

Optimal vs practical — that’s the real challenge with health span.
You don’t need perfect habits 100% of the time.
Instead, build simple systems that become automatic. Do them consistently enough, and occasional “off days” barely matter.
Think of it like your finances: solid systems for bills + savings let you splurge on a vacation guilt-free.
Same with health & fitness.
Over the next weeks I’ll break down my High Performance Health Span System — practical frameworks covering nutrition, training, recovery, and longevity habits that actually stick.
