“It wasn’t science it was misogyny”
George Monbiot, talking about #MECFS and the influential 1970 McEvedy/Beard paper on Double Down News in 2021.
They didn’t interview any patients and concluded an outbreak of ME was mass hysteria because the majority of patients were women.
#QLDCHOMustGo@StevenJMiles Please stop this unethical abuse of seriously ill patients. JG's doing this on your watch. It's unacceptable and he's made a laughing stock of your Govt on the international medical scene.
Please RT.
It’s not that John Gerrard said what he said about #LongCovid: we’re used to uniformed minimizers using bad science to push an anti-LC agenda. It’s that he, in a calculated fashion, chose to push this garbage on #LongCovidAwarenesDay that speaks to how petty and hateful he is.
You know when we should stop using the term Long Covid? When the patients who made it and who live with it say it’s time to stop using it.
That’s when. 🤷🏻♂️
The misrepresentation, gaslighting and abuse of patients with ME/CFS and Long Cvd has to stop.
We fight to be able to function and have decent quality of life, only to be medically and socially subverted and told we aren't trying hard enough by clinicians, govt and society.
The biggest BS about pwME & LC 'thinking ourselves sick' is that most of us do the opposite. Even in the depths of a crash, I tell myself I'm ok to do stuff, I shouldn't do. Most of us resist and fight our illness to our detriment. #ME#LongCovid
Revisiting the long-term health effects of Covid vs flu
3 key points
1. Covid is worse than flu
2. Covid is more multisystemic; flu is more respiratory
3. Both covid and flu cause more health loss in the long-term than what is evident around the time of acute infection

I wrote about @NPR 's decision to frame disabled people's ongoing exclusion from all public spaces as an annoyance to be navigated by individuals, rather than a massive civil rights violation to be challenged by the collective.

Hello to all our followers. We are slowly progressing with our litigation efforts and continue to look at ways to hold Govt and healthcare accountable.
Our admins have LC and must operate within their envelope, but we have traction and are pushing ahead.

Great to see more acknowledgment of Long Covid. Thank you @VicGovDH for addressing this rapidly growing cause of disability and permanent impairment in Australia.
Miquette shares her journey with long COVID and wants Victorians to know that anyone can get it.
The best way to not get long COVID, is to not get COVID.

We have a member of high risk Aus who is at risk of being involuntarily admitted under a Mental Health Treatment Order.
We'd be grateful to hear from anyone who has experience with this process, or how to advocate for patient rights in MH care.
Please RT and comment! Thanks.

@Mark_Butler_MP Reports from members: their GP clinics will not have access to XBB vaccines until February next year. These are clinically vulnerable people who need to be monitored by a dr. The choice to only make vaccines available in pharmacies is another example of dangerous inaccessibility.
How many Australians (and people residing here) have died from the virus over the past 3 months?
How many more are avoidably disabled due to dangerous health policies?
Thank you @__thewest__ for highlighting this egregious issue. It's a nation wide scandal.
We need more stories about clinically vulnerable people as broader society incorrectly assumes we are supported and protected when we are actively endangered and threatened.
Vulnerable Perth patient groups claim hospital complacency is putting chances of survival at risk. By @Flinty_01
