@MrTomGray As a case study myself I would like to say this one of my songs recently had 10 million streams that means the label have earned 5Ok the artist has roughly earned 8.5 k from royalties , when I got my Dec royaltly as a writer on a three way split I have earned £90.60 , unfair ?

@MrTomGray Would make sense but it’s not and let’s not forget the majors own spotify so they are essentially printing there own money when spotify add them to a big playlist

@MrTomGray Which could take years , the irony is I now teach music business part time to make ends meet as this new structure means labels don’t need radio play to make money and that’s where we used to make most royalty , if the streaming royalty was fair for songwriters the new model

@MrTomGray Hey Tom thanks for getting back , yep like you say the artist would have to be recouped to get there 17.5 percent royalty as it’s a major label deal but for me to see anything like 1.5 k I don’t think is gonna happen that’s a lot of £90.60 ‘s
