If you’re a new parent, planning to become one, or you simply have little nieces, nephews, or godchildren around that you take care of, then this thread is for you.
One of the things you would notice is that children will make you worry. You will worry if they are developing correctly or if they are safe.
But it’s also a good thing to have an idea of what to expect in terms of development of your child at the age they are currently in.
This thread is a birth-to-five-years guide to help you understand what is happening with your child, where they should be heading developmentally, what milestones to look out for, and when to seek help.
Every child is unique.
The information in this guide represents broad developmental expectations, not a strict timetable. Children grow at different speeds, but understanding the journey helps you respond better, support better, and worry more or less.
Child development is typically divided into five major stages:
• Newborn period: Birth – 2 months
• Early infancy: 2 – 6 months
• Late infancy: 6 – 12 months
• Toddlerhood: 1 – 3 years
• Early childhood: 3 – 5 years
Follow this 6-part thread carefully, I guarantee you will learn something important about the small human(s) in your life.
