One of the most ridiculous things I’ve heard from a boomer:
“If they cancel student debt, next they’ll want medical debt forgiven. Then they’ll demand affordable healthcare. After that, they’ll expect us to help house homeless people. Then they’ll want wages they can actually live on. Where does it end? The whole country will collapse!”
Apparently the real danger isn’t people being buried under debt, unable to afford healthcare, or working full-time and still struggling to survive.
It’s that once you fix one problem, people might start asking you to fix another.

I know trump is spraying a firehose of awfulness all over, but I implore you to pay attention to this:
While he's ready to disenfranchise millions of voters, looking for voter fraud, he told his voters TO CHEAT, to vote even if they're not registered.
TAKE👏🏽HIM👏🏽 SERIOUSLY!👏🏽
While you never got that $2,000 tariff refund check that Trump promised, here’s who did:
Walmart: $2.9 billion
Apple: $2.2 billion
Nike: $986 million
Amazon: $600 million
GM: $500 million
UPS: $500 million
The Trump Administration: Of, by, and for the billionaire class.
My neighbor pays $540 a month for his family's coverage. That's almost $6,500 a year gone from his paycheck before he ever gets to use any of it.
His oldest twisted her ankle at track practice. Went to urgent care, got an X-ray, taped it up, out the door in 35 minutes.
Ten days later, a bill for $980 shows up.
Insurance covered $0 because he's nowhere near his $5,500 family deductible.
You're not paying for healthcare. you're paying a monthly cover charge for the right to pay full price the one time you actually need it.
The Trump administration has released a health alert warning of a spike in rabies cases.
This year, the CDC halted rabies testing and shrank the rabies prevention team to just one staffer.
NEWS: Donald Trump’s own nephew, Fred Trump, is publicly calling out his uncle’s lies about 9/11, saying Trump’s claim that he brought a crew of workers to Ground Zero “so offends me that I need to speak out.”
Fred Trump also disputed Trump’s latest story that he was nearly crushed by a “creaking” building after the attacks, saying the building was inspected and cleared for occupancy: “I hope this brings some truth to that story.”
They took memory cards from us and made us pay for storage. They took CDs and DVDs and made us pay for streaming. They took software you could buy once and turned it into a monthly subscription. They took ownership, convenience, and basically everything that used to be a one-time purchase… then somehow made us pay for it every month.
I was in Canada once camping, got really sick, we went to the nearest town, and it was a small town, asked if there was a doctor in town, they said the guy across the street, I went, the guy immediately saw me, prescribed some medicine, I asked where the pharmacy was, it was across the street. I asked the doctor how to pay him and he said don’t worry about it. I insisted, he said there’s literally no way for me to even bill you. I then went to the pharmacy and I think I paid $10 for the medicine. So pretty much within an hour I had my doctor visit and my medicine and it was practically all free. The horror.
I was given my name by the Iroquois Nation many hundreds of years ago. By 1660 my name was printed on maps by the Europeans as they accepted the Native name which means Beautiful waters.
In 1867 the Canadian government decided to use my name for their providence.
🚨KESHIA GOLDEN SHOULD NOT BE ON TRIAL FOR MURDER.
Keshia Golden was 8 MONTHS PREGNANT when she says the father of her unborn child attacked her, slammed her head into a counter, and wouldn’t stop.
So, she fought back.
She grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed him ONCE in the LEG. The knife struck his femoral artery, and he later died.
And now, almost four years later, Keshia is facing a murder trial, in Chicago.
But this wasn’t some random altercation...
According to her attorneys, this was a woman who had been living through years of domestic violence.
She had called Chicago police at least 50 times before this happened.
There were multiple documented domestic violence incidents. Police responded to five incidents involving the couple, in just a few months, including allegations that Calvin Sidney choked, punched, slapped, and pushed her.
Keshia had also obtained an order of protection after she said he punched her in the face while she was pregnant.
She was asking for help.
Again.
And again.
And again.
And when the system failed to protect her, she eventually had to protect herself.
The prosecution initially charged her with first-degree murder.
Then they offered her a plea to second-degree murder and two years of probation.
She rejected it because a felony conviction could follow her for the rest of her life and seriously interfere with her ability to rebuild her life, including employment opportunities in health care and access to important benefits.
And now, as her trial begins, prosecutors are reportedly expected to offer an even lower charge… involuntary manslaughter with two years of probation.
But again…
WHY IS SHE BEING ASKED TO PLEAD GUILTY TO A FELONY AT ALL?
She was eight months pregnant.
She was being attacked.
She had a documented history of being the victim of domestic violence.
She had called police at least 50 times.
She had already sought a protective order.
And yet, somehow the question became whether she used the “right” amount of force while being attacked… instead of asking why this woman had been left in danger after repeatedly asking for help.
Women should not have to wait until their abuser is holding a weapon to be allowed to defend themselves.
Women shouldn’t have to be beaten nearly to death before the law recognizes that they were in danger.
So, when I see case of a woman who says she was fighting to make an abusive man STOP…
I have a hard time understanding why the answer from the state is…
“You should have died instead.”
Because that’s the message this sends to survivors.
You can call us. You can report the abuse. You can get a protective order. You can beg for help...
But if your abuser attacks you again, and you survive by fighting back…
We will prosecute you for murder.
Keshia Golden should be able to go home to her daughter, and she should be able to finish rebuilding her life.
Because surviving domestic abuse, ESPECIALLY WHILE 8 MONTHS PREGNANT, is not murder.
