By encouraging the heart, leaders "stimulate their efforts to reach for higher levels of performance and to aspire to be faithful to the visions and values of the organization" (Kouzes & Posner, 2017, p. 250). #EDUC510@SUEDLD@Seidelschool
@MrsHalter2020 As Kouzes and Posner suggest, I think it is important to establish trusting relationships and offer words of encouragement as much as possible. If kids trust and respect you, they are more willing to go the extra mile because they know someone believes in them.
“Believing in others is an extraordinary powerful force in propelling greater performance. If you want your constituents to have a winning attitude...show that you believe your constituents are already winners.” (Kouzes & Posner, 2017, p. 253). #EDUC510
THIS. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Kouzes and Posner (2017) describe a teacher perfectly: “By finding small ways that people can succeed at doing things differently, exemplary leaders make people want to be involved, and stay involved” (p.175). #differentiation#onesizedoesnotfitall#motivation#EDUC510
"Becoming an exemplary leaders requires you to fully comprehend the deeply held values - the beliefs, standards, ethics, and ideals - that drive you" (Kouzes & Posner, 2017, p. 48).
Knowing your values can take years, but standing firm in them will last a lifetime. #EDUC510
"Honest, competent, inspiring, and forward-looking are the essential characteristics people want in a leader, someone whose direction they would willingly follow" (Kouzes & Posner, 2017, p. 39). #EDUC510@SUEDLD @TLCTalk @Jim_Kouzes@KouzesPosner @harnessleads
“If you don’t believe in the messenger, you won’t believe the message” (Kouzes & Posner, 2017, p.41). This quote really resonated with me. You’re only as good as your word AND your actions! Keep it 💯 always! #credibility#honesty#EDUC510
“Titles are granted, but it’s your behavior that earns you respect” (Kouzes & Posner, 2017, p.13). This is so important as we reflect on where we are headed, both professionally and personally. #EDUC510#Leadership#Bethechange
There are no leaders without followers. Ideal followers get the job done as well as challenge, support, and learn from their leaders (Northouse, 2019). Followers are given a bad wrap - but are nonetheless essential in leadership. More research is needed!

"Adaptive leaders engage in activities that mobilize, organize, motivate, orient, and focus the attention of others" (Heifetz, 1994, p. 5). #EDUC510@SUEDLD
