It is not about complaining, criticizing, or simply bucking the system, challenging the process is demonstrating courage to continue the quest despite opposition and setbacks (Kouzes & Posner, 2017).

Kouzes and Posner (2017) describe a teacher perfectly: “By finding small ways that people can succeed at doing things differently, exemplary leaders make people want to be involved, and stay involved” (p.175). #differentiation#onesizedoesnotfitall#motivation#EDUC510
"Becoming an exemplary leaders requires you to fully comprehend the deeply held values - the beliefs, standards, ethics, and ideals - that drive you" (Kouzes & Posner, 2017, p. 48).
Knowing your values can take years, but standing firm in them will last a lifetime. #EDUC510
Exemplary leaders know that, while their position may give them authority, it is their behavior that earns them the respect of their followers (Kouzes & Posner, 2017). Additionally, think about the role model of a great father!

"Virtual teams place even greater demands on team leaders" (Dyer, Dyer, & Dyer, 2007, as cited in Northouse, 2019, p. 383) If COVID didn’t happen, we probably would have NO idea about this. Cause it’s SO TRUE. #EDUC510#IJustWantToTeachInMyRoom
"One of the strengths of the team leadership model is that it is designed to focus on the real-life organizational work group and the leadership needed therein" (Northouse, 2019, p. 389). #EDUC510@SUEDLD@Seidelschool
"Effective team performance begins with how the leader sees the situation that the team is experiencing" (Northouse, 2019, p. 374). #EDUC510@SUEDLD@Seidelschool
“In adaptive leadership, leaders do not use their authority to control others; rather, leaders interact with people to help them do adaptive work” (Northouse, 2019, p. 271).

There are no leaders without followers. Ideal followers get the job done as well as challenge, support, and learn from their leaders (Northouse, 2019). Followers are given a bad wrap - but are nonetheless essential in leadership. More research is needed!

"Adaptive leaders prepare and encourage people to deal with change" (Northouse, 2019, p. 259).
"Change and growth within an organization do not occur without uncertainty and stress" (Northouse, 2019, p. 268).

Listening more than talking. . . . Goal is not to be understood, but instead try to understand others. As a teacher I constantly want students to understand me but instead I should try to understand them.
Short & Sweet- We have two ears and one mouth!

Cleaned out my classroom yesterday . . . . everything felt frozen in time. Surreal . . . I miss my students and wonder how they are doing. Hope they are staying out of trouble.
"Authentic leaders understand their own values, place followers’ needs above their own, and work with followers to align their interests in order to create a greater common good" (Northouse, 2019, p. 209).

Transformational leadership involves an "emphasis on intrinsic motivation and follower development, which fits the needs of today’s work groups, who want to be inspired and empowered to succeed in times of uncertainty" (Northouse, 2019, p. 164).

"In contrast to transactional leadership, transformational leadership is the process whereby a person engages with others & creates a connection that raises the level of motivation & morality in both the leader & the follower" (Northouse, 2019, p. 164). #EDUC510@SUEDLD
