A comprehensive teacher evaluation includes:
How are you/family doing?
What PD opportunities would you like to explore next year?
How can I best support you right now?
How do you collaborate with colleagues to enhance teaching practices?
How can we leverage your strengths better?
“The only thing of real importance that leaders do is to create and manage culture. If you do not manage culture, it manages you, and you may not even be aware of the extent to which this is happening.”— Edgar Schein

Why, yes, I do think middle level teaching should have its own separate certification. Thank you for asking. Young adolescents are not elementary or high school children; teaching them successfully requires expertise. #amle50
So grateful to our team for making #TLC2023 the best one ever! I’m also super grateful to the fantastic presenters & participants who made the sessions at the conference what it was. I love the chance to work with our team & the opportunity to learn from everybody at TLC.
@i2_sing_america @DetroitLibrary Too cute!
"When I look back, I am so impressed again with the life-giving power of literature. If I were a young person today, trying to gain a sense of myself in the world, I would do that again by reading, just as I did when I was young." -Maya Angelou
@MsPinkBehavior I do but I also think it is good to go back to the classroom as well. That is what I chose to do recently and it really has given me another lens that I would have missed. I wish there were cycles in and out. Both jobs are difficult.
@shaindelr Yep, boiled was the way. I can still picture that oily water. I only sauté or grill them. My kids are spoiled. They won’t eat boiled hotdogs. Apparently, they can taste the difference.
You're not obligated to maintain a relationship with anyone who treats you poorly.
No mentor, friend, or relative deserves unconditional loyalty. Past help is not an excuse for present harm.
If they're having a negative impact on you, you don’t have to keep them in your life.
@DrBradJohnson In line right now for ice cream and the group behind just spoke about talking their younger sister out of becoming and educator because it’s not worth it. I’m seeing the end of a profession and it just makes me sad.
Teaching may be the toughest job, but principal may be the loneliest job. They're in a constant tug of war between mandates, directives, & expectations of the district and the needs & support for teachers. Its important for districts & teachers to recognize & show their support.
