Story time. Three weeks ago my daughter bought a used car from an @AutoNation dealership in Southern California. We had a great experience at the dealership, we thought all was well. On the drive home, the car, which was a hybrid, with only 66,000 miles went limp mode multiple times coming up the grades on the freeway, which she will be driving to and from college daily, and it was scary as hell. We contacted the dealership the following morning and they said bring it down we’ll take a look and make it right. I towed it down the following day. They supposedly ran the codes and found nothing, and had someone test it, not on a hill mind you, and said all was fine, in all modes. They said they were going to have someone test it later on a grade to try to see if they could get it to do it. The more I thought about it, the more uneasy I was, so that night I emailed them saying I was choosing to use the AutoNation 5-day, 250-mile money-back guarantee on all used vehicles, and I would be down there the next day to finalize the return. We went the next day and finalized the return. At that point my daughter’s down payment had already cleared the bank. They assured us the check for the down payment would take a week to process. We’re now going on three weeks, and nothing. My daughter starts college summer session this week, the whole reason she needed the car ASAP. I have contacted the dealership and have gotten no response, so I contacted corporate through the link on their website because there is no phone number, and it said I would receive a response in 24-48 hours and nothing. What on earth do I have to do to get my daughter’s hard earned money back so we can find her a RELIABLE car to get her to and from school and work? So frustrating! I have purchased from AutoNation dealerships before and it was perfect, but this is ridiculous and a very bad look.
