20-year-old Pooja Singh from Haryana won gold at the Asian U20 Athletics Championships 2026 in Hong Kong and shattered India’s women’s high jump national record.

She cleared 1.93 m, breaking the 14-year-old senior national record of 1.92 m set by Sahana Kumari. She also set a new U20 national record of 1.91 m earlier in the competition.

Pooja is now India’s highest-ever women’s high jumper.

आज जब हम हर दिन अनजाने में कचरे के पहाड़ खड़े कर रहे हैं, और पलटा जी यह सिखाती हैं कि "Zero Waste" कोई असंभव या आदर्शवादी सपना नहीं है। ��ह एक ऐसा सच है, जिसे थोड़ी जागरूकता, थोड़ी इच्छाशक्ति और थोड़ी आदतों में बदलाव के साथ आसानी से अपनाया जा सकता है।

दरअसल, यह समय केवल नई चीज़ें अपनाने का नहीं है, यह उन पुरानी, सरल और प्राकृतिक जीवनशैलियों की ओर लौटने का भी है, जिन्हें हमने आधुनिकता के नाम पर पीछे छोड़ दिया।
कभी जो चीज़ें हमारे जीवन का आधार थीं जिसे कि.. मिट्टी के बर्तन, कपड़े के थैले, घरेलू पुनर्चक्रण..उन्हें "पुराना" कहकर हमने त्याग दिया, जबकि वे ही वास्तव में टिकाऊ और श्रेष्ठ थीं।

अब समय आ चुका है कि हम नकारात्मकताओं और दिखावे से ऊपर उठकर अपने आसपास की प्राकृतिक, सरल और सकारात्मक चीज़ों को फिर से अपनाएं।
एक ऐसा ���ीवन चुनें, जो न केवल हमारे लिए बेहतर हो, साथ ही आने वाली पीढ़ियों के लिए भी सुरक्षित और सुंदर भविष्य का रास्ता बनाए।

अगर हम आज भी नहीं जागे, तो प्रकृति का संतुलन बिगड़ने के परिणाम बेहद गंभीर और भयावह हो सकते हैं। लेकिन अगर हम ��भी से छोटे-छोटे कदम उठाएं, तो एक बड़ा बदलाव संभव है।

I must confess that until recently I had never heard of Phool Dei, a spring festival that was celebrated yesterday in the villages of Uttarakhand.

Children gather fresh flowers from the hills and go from house to house placing them on doorsteps, offering a blessing for the household:

“Phool Dei, Chhamma Dei,
Deni Dwar, Bhar Bhakar…” roughly wishing the home prosperity.

In return they receive sweets.

It reminded me a little of Halloween in the U.S., where children go door to door saying “trick or treat.” But what a lovely contrast. Here the children arrive not threatening a prank, or asking first, but giving first. Flowers.

In an age when we speak so much about environmental consciousness, this graceful celebration of spring and nature deserves to be far more widely known.

Just as Holi travelled across India and the world, perhaps Phool Dei should too.

R&DE(E), pune based lab of DRDO, along with Defence Institute of Advanced Technology (DIAT) have developed indigenous tactile sensor arrays for advanced robotic applications. The technology is a precursor to develop artificial skin for future robots. These sensors can handle delicate, lightweight and heavy objects; and can also sense slip.

DIAT demonstrated the efficacy of the sensor array and it was handed over to R&DE(E) in presence of Dr. Samir V. Kamat, Secretary DD R&D and Chairman DRDO, and Dr. B H V S Narayana Murthy, Vice Chancellor DIAT.
