An IIT Bombay student died by suicide after being caught cheating in an exam. The professor who caught him has resigned, and an SC/ST Act case was filed against him.

Thank you Modi ji for strengthening the law. A professor can be screwed for simply doing his duty.

@JaipurDialogues Point is who will go against this law when everyone knows that some related person gets emotionally hurt n next u know that u r in jail. In india, @HMOIndia is more focused on SC/ST ppl than others coz apparently they r the ones who r humans. Rest r non humans.

GC and OBC faculty in colleges should avoid any form of non-public interaction with students. If an interaction is mandatory, such as during viva, wear body cams and record the entire session. Also install CCTV with a mic in your offices.

If the administration doesn't allow body cams, refuse the assignment. At worst, this may lead to disciplinary counseling; however, that remains far better than being falsely accused under the Atrocities Act, which can result in job loss, public humiliation, financial strain, imprisonment, and years of judicial harassment.

Start demanding body cams so that either the request is met or it generates enough awareness to force a public discussion on the misuse of the Atrocities Act.

Perfect example of everything wrong with IPS being parachuted into leadership position in CAPF w/o having any relevant experience.

Imagine you're a CRPF cadre officer who's served on ground in COBRA units and have extensive experience.

But you cannot rise in your organization to head the COBRA set-up even though you're best placed to contribute towards its growth, maintenance, equipment, HR policies, training, employment etc.

It has to be an IPS Officer!
