I’ve been looking for a classic text on the New Deal; found this (published in the early 60s). Conditions during the Great Depression, at least as described, are close to unimaginable today: steel plants operating at 12% capacity, over 13 million unemployed (23-24% of the labour force), etc.
Before civil rights act, before the welfare state, before all the usual bullshit conservative talking points...
