@medicalmodelbri WTH? One of the coroners concerns was that the GP didn't call an ambulance(although did correctly direct straight to ED!) but NOT the poor mgt by the ACP! FML!
"Managing uncertainty is what we are trained to do." Dr Molly Nobes at today's ARM conference, setting out why Advanced Practitioners should never be used to replace doctors.
The motion against the growing reach of Advanced Practitioners was passed.
@UNISONLibby@medicalmodelbri Exhibit A, an “ANP” with no masters degree, just an employer who endorsed him as one and told him he could put heart valves into people so he did. When called out on it they didn’t stop they just deleted the social media evidence. Honestly, not sure you’re lying to yourself or us
Let’s have another one!
From an anonymised but reliable source.
A profound and deeply unsettling lack of medical knowledge — shameful: yet, ACPs are left to run amok and cause peril to the public. It’s an insult to vulnerable patients and a mockery to the education of doctors
A Hepatology tACP proudly informed us he was operating at registrar level.
Five minutes later, a consultant discovered he was unfamiliar with the existence of the gallbladder. No euphemism; he literally had no concept of the organ’s existence.
Always. The. Damn. Gallbladder.
🚨 3 GPs suspended for providing inadequate supervision for PAs & ACPs practising outside of scope!!
We’ve been raising a 🚩 for YEARS!
PAs & ACPs are NOT doctors
They MUST have a defined scope & ceiling of practise
Doctors- supervise at the risk of your own medical license
3 GPs suspended from the @gmcuk register and their GP practice registration cancelled by @CareQualityComm due to serious patient safety concerns .
❌APs working out of scope
❌PAs not managing care or advising patients appropriately - not picked up by the GP
@cooperbailey151@JatinderHayre_ Well with the greatest respect that's BS.. I'm a GP want to do locums, but can't get OOH work in my area as all locum jobs available are for ACPs.
A physio ACP told me that because their course has higher entry requirements, they are superior to nursing ACPs
They said nursing ACPs tend to be better than paramedic ACPs for the same reason
Anyone able to explain if this is true, or what the difference between the roles are?
This is a deeply distressing case. No child should have to endure such pain, and no parent should be left carrying the guilt and trauma that this family has experienced
Patients and families have a right to know if the person providing treatment is or is not a doctor.
Almost a year since its publication, key recommendations of Professor Leng’s review remain unfulfilled, despite being accepted by Government.
This is shocking
Vaginal Pessary for a 5 year old girl
“PA recommended prescription” which GP authorised without checking (the “special Knock” method 🙄)
Pharmacist dispensed too 😬
Mother wasn’t aware the person examining her 5 year old daughter’s vagina was NOT a GP, but a PA
🚨 NEW: Mohammed Fahir Amaaz and Muhammad Amaad have been cleared over the alleged assault of a male police officer at Manchester Airport
Two juries failed to reach a verdict and no further trial will take place
You replace doctors with ACPs who do not have the same depth or breadth of medical education and training. They work within protocols and guidelines, with supervision and escalation to doctors when cases fall outside their scope.
Despite this, many are being paid significantly more than equivalent doctor grades.
In reality, most ACP roles function around senior SHO level at best, not consultant or registrar level.
