Jason Arday's story has "fallen" off the news cycle. But we cannot let this stand. Shame has to change sides, as Gisele Pelicot told us. And it's now our turn: the UK press needs to take a long, hard look at itself.

Even if by any chance Cofnas does get fired, he will simply fail upwards into a well-funded position in a right wing think tank or something like that. There is no reckoning for white mediocrity in academia. People like Cofnas just keep failing upwards. Have seen it again & again
@Anna_Soubry What failings? This how people like you join in the piling then pretend you are innocent 🙄
What did she do personally to you? How did she affect your life?
The Times quietly deleted this disgraceful headline.
It was published several hours before the news broke that Dr Jason Arday had died earlier that day.
Quiet deletions, without clearly notifying readers, are a breach of IPSO's code of conduct, the regulator of The Times.
📌 ICYMI — Jason Arday: We Must Rage – Rage Against the Journalism of Cruelty — @iainoverton
The death of the academic shows the casual conversion of humiliation into entertainment by a media running on monetised hate and cruelty

Instead of taking accountability, The Guardian is condemning the criticism of journalists and goes as far as to distance itself from the right-wing press (Murdoch and co).
In reality, The Guardian likely caused even more damage than The Times and co, due to its facade of being a 'liberal', 'progressive' paper.
Dr Jason Arday repeatedly raised safeguarding risks to The Guardian directly. They ignored every single one.
He also flagged the bad-faith questions he was asked by The Guardian's journalists.
The Guardian is completely unregulated, so there is no accountability. They are almost identical to US papers in that sense.
Their coverage of the Gaza genocide has been appalling. In conclusion, they are a wolf in sheep's clothing.
@ComAcFreedom Diane Abbott has had decades of experience in defending herself against the sort of allegation you've chosen to concoct, to somehow try to convince us you're the good guys. She won't be bowing to this latest nonsense.
Please spare a thought for the future Queen. 🤭 All those years of cosplaying Princess Diana, faking illness and pulling endless PR stunts, only for a new book to come along and remind the world what a beautiful and irreplaceable gem Princess Diana was. 😍💎
Two women who hold the same title. Two very, very different women. 😩

Starkey praised Cofnas for defeating Cambridge's "DEI" system, and said of Arday's resignation: "the reason we are both grinning is that we are enjoying vengeance. Good, honest, straightforward and Christian vengeance… we can rejoice together".
Arday was found dead on 14 August. /5
We're seeing a lot of outrage online and from legacy media over the naming and shaming of the most prolific 'journalists' behind the hounding of Dr Jason Arday. Anyway:
In descending order of how many they published in the 22 days leading up to his death, here's how many each 'journalist' has published since his death:
- Albert Tait / The Telegraph: (14 prior) ONE article
- Gordon Rayner / The Telegraph: (12 prior) ONE article
- Emma Yeomans / The Times: (8 prior) ZERO articles
- Janet Eastham / The Telegraph: (6 prior) ONE article
- Jack Hardy / Daily Mail: (6 prior) ZERO articles
- Eleanor Harding / Daily Mail: (6 prior) ZERO articles
- Lanre Bakare / The Guardian: (6 prior) ZERO articles
- Richard Adams / The Guardian: (6 prior) ONE article
It is the fifth day since the tragic passing of Dr Jason Arday. The aforementioned journalists' silence since his death is proof that it was always about the witch hunt and never about the news.
Because, given how obsessively they covered Dr Arday, surely reporting on his death, the aftermath, the vigil, and the public outrage is relevant to their job, right?
Why name the 'journalist'? It's a public-facing role. Their names are on the bylines. Whilst it's true they may have been assigned the attack pieces by editors and higher-ups, journalists also need to be conscious that their reporting has real-world impact.
Let's cut these journalists some slack for a second and assume they had zero will to defame and smear Dr Arday, and were simply doing the dirty work for their editors and other higher-ups.
The issue with that is, they have all the incentives to go ahead and do exactly that. Do the work, chase the promotion, and get the excellent performance reviews. There is no downside, i.e. public outrage at their public-facing work.
Our action campaign intentionally targets editors' mailboxes and IPSO only: https://t.co/4mMalXKw2x
But 'journalists' can no longer be shielded. Just as Dr Jason Arday wasn't shielded.

I'm a former Guardian journalist. The Guardian's demonstrably did not do its job responsibly. It published hyperbolic, unverified, speculative inferences without real merit. This is now a matter of record, and history will be the judge: https://t.co/33JcF9kozv
BREAKING: Guardian's Katharine Viner was warned Arday was at risk - yet published anyway
Author Kelechi Okafor released a series of internal emails showing the Guardian knew how vulnerable Arday was, yet ignored warnings

@implausibleblog@jgiulz The British press treat him worse than prince Andrew and other British politician who was exposed for running around with Jeffrey Epstein. He was treated 100 times resident predators who were raping young girls.
Cofnas And The Racialised Smear Machine
Nathan Cofnas, a hereditarian and outspoken Zionist, helped turn Jason Arday into a culture-war target. Arday, a Black academic, was subjected to a racist media spectacle dressed up as “standards”. This was never just about scholarship. It was about who gets to belong at the top.
Compare the two cases and a pattern emerges. Cofnas cleared every formal bar that Cambridge erected—a competitive fellowship, a strong publication record, an eventual ruling that he’d broken no law and no policy—but he was punished anyway, and his position quietly expired while the university dithered. Arday did not clear the bars his professoriate peers had to clear, he was defended anyway, and he was propped up by administrators who failed to do due diligence. One scholar was punished for an opinion; the other was protected despite misconduct that objective methods could verify. Two different treatments, one shared instinct: expedience trumps evidence.
