How do workers respond to employer characteristics? Our session starts off bright & early Saturday @ #ASSA2024 - looking forward to presenting new work, joint with @hj_rho. Also excited to see what @alanmbenson and @evanpstarr have in store. Thanks to @ElizaForsythe for chairing!
Another profoundly disturbing mass shooting. Occurred close to classroom where CEPR alum @hj_rho was teaching. She is safe but we remember all the innocents whose lives were snuffed out.
.@michiganstateu Spartans, crisis resources are available 24/7. Counselors will be available at the Hannah Community Center beginning at 8 a.m. Tuesday, February 15.
I’m at a loss for words. Happened again, this time close to my own classroom at MSU. This has got to stop. My heart goes out to all those affected by the tragedy.
Pretending that Asian Americans are overly successful ignores their rich history and diversity, harms the community, and silences anti-Asian racism. See some of my past writing on the model minority myth @ceprdc : https://t.co/SWBSPhw9Zx; https://t.co/M3lSsahBdx #StopAsianHate
Proud to share that tonight the Empire State Building will be lit gold & black to raise awareness of our #StopAsianHate Virtual Day of Action & Healing!
You can join today's Day of Action too by posting a message of support for Asian Americans using the hashtag #StopAsianHate
The rise in anti-APIDA and anti-Asian violence in this country is abhorrent. We stand with our APIDA and Asian students, faculty, staff and alumni to oppose this hate, discrimination and intolerance. https://t.co/3RK2E3ymGg
What terrific @WhiteHouseCEA picks!
Nothing says "workers are at the center of policy" like putting three labor experts in the three CEA posts. All also have expertise far beyond labor.

This election was about whether or not we remain a country that believes in the Constitution, that believes in the rule of law and that believes in democracy.
And thank God, democracy won out.
Portland, OR (Multnomah County) passed a universal preschool program funded by increasing taxes on top earners. It also raises the minimum wage for educators to $18 an hour.
Virtual orientation, virtual faculty meeting, virtual community events... weird times but excited to to join the HR & Labor Relations group @MSUSHRLR
Summer is typically when youth employment peaks, about one-in-three workers ages 16-19 experienced a sharp drop in employment between March and April. It took until June for this age group to return to their March employment level. #extendUI

This year, over 1.5 million fewer young people had jobs in June than March, and over 4 million fewer young people had jobs in June 2020 compared to June 2019. See new analysis by @hj_rho @YixiaCai @ShawnFremstad#extendUI

When it comes to measuring unemployment among people with multiple jobs, “What we have been discovering is that the B.L.S. numbers are just not telling the full story,” @hj_rho tells the @nytimes.
