🚨GLOBAL DEBT HITS $323 TRILLION
The current global debt situation is at unsustainably high levels, driven by both public and private sectors.
Total Global Debt: As of recent data, global debt has reached approximately $323 trillion. This debt includes obligations from governments, businesses, and households worldwide.
Debt to GDP Ratio: Global debt as a percentage of GDP has been climbing, with the global debt-to-GDP ratio now at 336%, indicating that debt has outpaced economic growth.
Public Debt: Public debt, which refers to the debt of governments, has edged up to 93% of global GDP in 2023, remaining 9 percentage points above the pre-pandemic level. This increase is largely driven by major economies like the United States and China.
Developed Economies: Countries like the US, Japan, the UK, and France have seen substantial increases in debt levels. For instance, the US debt is around 150% of GDP, while Japan's is much higher at 263%.
Debt Management and Risks: High debt levels pose risks, particularly if there's a need for debt restructuring, which can lead to economic instability or recession. The potential for a "debt crisis" looms if countries cannot manage or service their debts.
