@Cosmic_Carol I hope that helps! As far as I know, this is the first time all 3 events are combined. Usually, they’re all separate events in climbing, so it’s unusual but interesting to see climbers compete if in all three!
@Cosmic_Carol Climbing is great!! I’ve been climbing for fun for years now and it’s so cool to see it in the Olympics. Let me see if I can help explain the scoring:
@Cosmic_Carol Based on your score in each event (it’s like a triathlon, not individual events), you get a placement. Your placements are multiplied for your final score, lowest final score wins.
@Cosmic_Carol Boulder: there are 4 problems, you get a limited time to look at each and a time limit for climbing. Highest points: having 2 hands securely on “top” hold on first try. Medium pts: multiple attempts to top. Low pts: reaching “zone” hold but not “top”.
@Cosmic_Carol Lead: each hold is worth a point. You only get one attempt on the route, and have a limited amount of time to scope out the route before. So, the farther up you go, the higher you score.

@Owen198217@ZJAyres Not really. I’m hanging onto the summit but there’s a really good ledge below me to walk on pretty easily and that side isn’t terribly steep. The steep drop off is on the opposite side that I am.

Perseverance got us to Mars. With Ingenuity, we soar higher.
The #MarsHelicopter made history today by being the first craft to achieve controlled, powered flight on a planet beyond Earth.
Two bots, one selfie. Greetings from Jezero Crater, where I’ve taken my first selfie of the mission. I’m also watching the #MarsHelicopter Ingenuity as it gets ready for its first flight in a few days. Daring mighty things indeed.
