The PRC's mega-embassy in the UK raises significant security concerns: from interference and surveillance to risks for sensitive infrastructure like London’s financial services. We must work to urgently address this issue and work with our allies to protect national security.
Nov 30: 🇨🇳 little pinks (left pic) harassed a silent protest on Briggate in 🇬🇧 Leeds city center, organized by “Hongkongers in Leeds” with Alex Sobel (MP for Leeds Central and Headingley) present, against the unjust sentencing of the Hong Kong 47. One of the 🇨🇳 little pinks — the one wearing a blue jacket — even threw a cup of milkshake at the protesters. The 🇨🇳 little pinks tried to leave the scene as some of the protesters approached them, while “Hongkongers in Leeds” immediately reported the incident to the police.
The 🇨🇳 little pinks, who seemingly couldn’t speak English — that’s what one of them claimed, arrogantly cursed in Mandarin and said things like “when the PLA arrives in Hong Kong you’ll know…” bla bla bla (upper right video)… the little pinks fled separately and two of them managed to escape, leaving the perp behind by himself. The perp then called one of the 🇨🇳 consulates-general — most likely the closest one in Manchester — for help (lower right video) but the consulate couldn’t offer any assistance. The perp was already gone when policemen finally showed up. The perp was reportedly located and detained by the police. But on Dec 1 West Yorkshire Police told “Hongkongers in Leeds” that they had decided to drop the case due to insufficient evidence.
As China sentences the bravest citizens of Kong Hong to prison, remember that China gave its word to respect “one country, two systems”.
China betrayed that promise. So when people inevitably come forward and say China will respect Taiwan, remember this.
1/ After 45 Hong Kong pro-democracy activists were jailed for up to 10 years on Tuesday over their roles in an unofficial primary election, a woman who held up a sign outside the courthouse that read “Righteous people live, villains must die” was taken into a police van.
HKFP has reached out to police for further details.

LIVE from #HongKong@thewitnesshk: 92-year-old Cardinal Zen arrived at the courtroom, accompanied by Cyd Ho, a former legislative member and political prisoner. Within an hour, the court will witness the sentencing hearing of the #HongKong47 under the #NationalSecurityLaw.
45 pro-democracy leaders will be sentenced by #HongKong's compromised court in ~12 hours for subversion.
They represent a wide spectrum of political beliefs. The harsh imprisonment symbolizes the government's mission to uproot decades of civil resistance in HK. Time to speak up.
.@KwaiLamHo is sentenced to 7 years behind bars.
She said, “I stand alone confronting these accusations, not as an individual, but as one of all those who have ever stood in the streets and raised their voices to demand autonomy for the city…
1/ Today, a bipartisan group of US lawmakers introduced a bill to sanction 49 Hong Kong judges, prosecutors & gov't officials. They range from appeals judges to low-level prosecutors. If passed, it would make clear that ANYONE participating in persecution can be held accountable.
Jimmy Lai marks his 1,000th day in Hong Kong’s Stanley Prison on Tuesday, an ignominious anniversary that should remind the world of his bravery and China’s disdain for international treaties and the rule of law.

Chinese human rights lawyer #LuSiwei, who helped the #HK12 when they were imprisoned in China, was repatriated by Laos to China last week. The international community should continue to call for his release so that he can reunite with his family in the US. https://t.co/K00RN41YZS
