No coincidence the two toughest markets in the city today are Borivali and Bandra.
Ram and Shyam graduate in 2008. Both get Rs 1 lakh as a gift by their parents.
Ram listens to business channels, digests slick presentations by MFs & invests in the stock market.
Shyam just listens to his grandmother and invests in gold. Cut to 2025 - they've both made the SAME money.
It boggles the mind. Makes you question your existence.
But on a serious note, this means you should have multiple assets in your portfolio - equity, debt and commodities. Gold and equity have negative correlation - having both reduces volatility.
Within equity I do bat for flexicaps. But alongside that, it makes sense to take exposure to debt & gold via hybrids. I personally do it via hybrids and gold ETF.

@KirtanShahCFP Expense Ratio is just 0.03% for some Pension managers and Tax efficiency is also high .NPS is a great product as an alternate for Balanced Funds/Fixed Income allocation .All you money cannot always be allocated to Mutual Funds . Your analysis in that regard is biased imo.
The Nifty Midcap Index moved from 25000 to 58000 in this bull phase which started in July 2022
A 130% plus move in two years
After such a move a few thousand points correction is normal and par for the course and will still keep the bull phase intact
Midcap Investors should always be ready for deep drawdowns over short periods of time
@VishalBhargava5 It is not very lucrative to buy Residential property for rental in India so rental supply is constrained .I don’t expect rentals to come down in a hurry .It’s just that this dichotomy is getting corrected after years of low rates .Tenants may have to Higher rents in future.
@VishalBhargava5 Rental yields are already very low in India ..At Gross level 2-3%Compared to 4-5% Globally . Post Maintenance cost ,Property Taxes & Higher EMi ( Most Landlords now paying much higher EMI after 2.5% interest hike ) they are not left with much surplus.
@DiwakarSharmaa@mid_day@patel_bhupen They are Ilinformed youngsters ..no city can be great without a world class Public transport. if they care for environment their own residential building may have been forest a few decades back .There should be balance between environment and Development.
@Thevarsteffy@RoadsOfMumbai Does that mean people travel like animals in Mumbai locals. 8-10 people die every day on a average in Mumbai locals . This city deserves a world class Public transport. But so called environmentalist stall such projects for their vested intetest.
@VishalBhargava5 If the Metro project remains stuck because of Aarey & does not start soon how will we maintain social distance for millions of commuters in Mumbai .They will continue to travel in packed trains&busses .Millions will be infected with COVID19.Hope we are able to find solution soon.
