@RussWWFC It’s tricky either way. Need to go a day or two before because they can shut the borders whenever they like and there’s always major delays no matter which way you go.

Oh they’ve decommissioned first class now!

So in the last ten minutes I’ve been moved out of my half-empty carriage at BNS at crammed into two carriages at the front because half the train was out of service after BNS (apparently).

Then there’s been a collective decision to move into first anyway because what are they gonna do.

Then they decommission first class. So the posh lot get their money back for them decommissioning it, but we get nothing for being herded like a flock of sheep from air-con heaven to literal hell, because while the train sat at BNS for 25 minutes air-frying everyone inside, it only actually left 8 minutes late.

At what point do we just admit that first class on trains is a horrible idea and we should decommission them all.

@CrossCountryUK - if you want to DM and explain to you how profitable your ‘make a third of our train in a heatwave first-class’ business model is, I’ll be happy to listen.
