@HMP403_PH I found the discussion about antibiotic resistance to be most interesting in Monday's lecture - where scientists tested and discovered that it only took 11 days for bacteria to become resistant to 1000x the antibiotic! Proper antibiotic use is super important!
@HMP403_PH As seen in class - cookies are placed right at the checkout point. No fruit or vegetables in sight, trying to encourage purchase of unhealthy products! #PHin48hours
@HMP403_PH Students in Union Court are encouraged to drink soda/other sugary beverages by using the convenience factor, "any time, any flavor" to quench thirst #PHin48hours
@HMP403_PH Similar to what we saw in class with using smaller plates, changing the way we place our food on our plates can help us make healthier choices/deter us from making unhealthy ones! #PHin48hours
@HMP403_PH Low socioeconomic areas are more affected by childhood obesity. These areas tend to have limited access to food retail. Fast food is more heavily marketed in these areas and processed foods are purchased more often because of their inexpensive price tag #phtopics_2017
@HMP403_PH Did you know that childhood obesity actually affects the military? The https://t.co/SuFZrh1DOd states that more than 70% of today's youth are not qualified to serve, and 25% of applicants exceed the military's weight standards. #phtopics_2017
@HMP403_PH The documentary, Fed Up, states that 1 medium french fry = 1 hour and 12 minutes of swimming! If we aren't cautious of the food we use to fuel our bodies and aren't exercising enough, these unhealthy foods can add up very fast! #phtopics_2017
@HMP403_PH Childhood obesity can have detrimental effects on a child's future. The earlier a child develops obesity, the more at risk they are for developing other health conditions as well as shortening their lives #phtopics_2017
@HMP403_PH Childhood obesity has now risen to the top chronic disease seen among children! Obesity is affecting roughly 1/3 of children aged 2-19 years old (Obesity Action Coalition) #phtopics_2017
@HMP403_PH Though we are often quick to relate gun violence with mental illness, Dr. James Fox says there is no real correlation between the two, and this assumed connection could be dangerous toward mental health progress https://t.co/GFR3xfxBgB #makingsensePH
@HMP403_PH (1) I chose to follow WHO because they are widely focused on all public health aspects. This tweet stood out to me because safe.. https://t.co/B6RLSwIbfv
