Time to make AI capabilities payoff now that the AI excitement frenzy is calming.

Experimentation is great but don’t lose site of core capabilities and product.

McKinsey just dropped its 2025 AI report.

1. Everyone’s testing, few are scaling.
88% of companies now use AI somewhere.
Only 33% have scaled it beyond pilots.

2. The profit gap is huge.
Just 6% see real EBIT impact.
Most are still stuck in “experiments,” not execution.

3. The winners think bigger.
Top performers aren’t cutting costs. They’re redesigning workflows and creating new products.

4. AI agents are emerging.
23% are testing agents.
Only 10% have scaled them (mostly in IT and R&D).

5. The jobs shift is starting.
30% of companies expect workforce reductions next year, mostly in junior or support roles.

TL;DR:
AI adoption is nearly universal. Impact isn’t.

The gap between pilots and profit is where the next unicorns will be built.

@shawngorham Did a remodel with main floor walk in shower, office (convert to bedroom later), 36" wide doorways, backing behind tile in shower to later add grab bars, 36" btw island & cabinets, & minimal external entries to add ramps later. Builder was surprised at this (as <50 year olds)

Don't use casement windows! During rain, even the slightest opening will let rain in, you cannot add a A/C unit (direct or vent) with them, and then any blinds have to fully collapsed when opening. I tell everyone to avoid casement windows even with A/C as that one time you want to open them, you will regret it.

@rrhoover I would not pay a lot but two things: 1.) Removing offers/coupons/promos in my email once expired. 2.) A maps app that solves the traveling salesman problem so I can put in several places I need to go, when I can leave, and it optimizes my route for open hours/time of travel.

@realfrugalmogul The median income in Wellesley is > $200k where as Worchester is ~$70K (per datausa). Downtown Wellesley is lovely with well kept stores and home owners keep their lot/homes very nice. People will pay more to have this quality of life not just for the house config.

@ankurnagpal @carryhq_ Is there a requirement to have earned the amount you put away from the business? Example if you earn only $30k from the side hustle are you limited to investing just that in the Solo 401k?
