@leonliu5818@ysn_cts8835@naayaenoki to help improve people's quality of life during China's difficult years.
History has its ups and downs. If it teaches us anything.
@leonliu5818@ysn_cts8835@naayaenoki At the beginning, Sun Yat-sen relied heavily on support from Southeast Asia, raising funds for his revolution there. Just a few decades ago, overseas Chinese communities were still sending bicycles, household appliances, etc ...
@jokieliu Culturally, many overseas Chinese communities preserved traditional customs remarkably well. In some respects, those traditions were even better preserved in places like Thailand than in mainland China after the Cultural Revolution.
@jokieliu Her grandparents voluntarily made that choice. Period.

@astrikos123@Phninetyone not that i agree on the Italian incident. but this's already being handled by the police. what more to expect -seriously, track down their identities?
@ri_dt@bubupearr wait a min, you're equating modern mainland chinese with overseas ch. many ch communities in thailand preserved traditional chinese culture, confucian values, and traditional etiquette that were disrupted in mainland china during the cultural revolution. they're not the same.
