MSc from @UQAT: revegetation of mines in the boreal forest with pollinator populations, woman in STEM, restoration ecologist. @hoboshutterbug.bsky.social now
A winning day. Field work planning. Huge progress on a bursary application package. Homemade Massaman curry. An hour of lap swimming. Ended the day with an appearance of the #AuroraBorealis and a single #meteor sighting with the spouse. Plus dog lovies.
@the_transit_guy Drink more water than you think, go to bed earlier than in your 20s, and try to save more for retirement.
Also, just enjoy your 30s. You will tolerate way less BS from people and that just keeps getting better.
I am mobilizing + giving free weekly science communication workshops in a private community for scientists who want to join the battle vs misinformation. I wasn't planning on doing this so soon but this is urgent. We need you. Scientists, DM with your credentials for details.
I keep thinking I hear the dog, or he is hanging out just outside of my peripheral vision. I know that grief takes time, but right now it just feels like I'm being haunted by a very sweet dog who doesn't know he has moved on.
3 weeks shy of his 13th birthday, our standard poodle let us know it was time to go. We had almost 10 amazing years with him, and wouldn't change a thing. The last few days he was in pain as his liver failed.
It is so quiet without him.
