@DrEilidhMaria If you like everything then ED is the way to go… and working in a smaller EDGH/trauma unit is the best in my opinion. Mix of high and low acuity, opportunities to pull/cut/remove/fix plenty of things. And complex and baffling medical cases that get you head scratching
This week members of RNLI Hastings Lifeboat Station attended a garden party at Buckingham Palace to celebrate the RNLIs 200th anniversary!
Attended by the Princess Royal and the Duke of Kent, president of the RNLI our crew enjoyed a sunny afternoon in the gardens of the Palace.
@DrBenLovell The difficulty with staffing to trends and easily adjustable shift patterns is the need to give people rota stability and factor in social and unsocial pay areas. Self rostering helps with this, but instigating if becomes very difficult if you have a high locum burden
Last few tickets remaining for the ‘The Hastings Lifeboat Story’ talk being held this Friday, an illustrated talk by local historian Ken Brooks at 7pm. Tickets available from the RNLI shop or online here.

@RoadsideMum If I have the treats in the house I’ll eat them all in one go. So I don’t have any in the house. I weigh or measure portions of things, and have one day off where you can treat yourself to the things you want. Also small portioned snacks regularly.
@JoanneYounge@CDDFTNHS@theSAScollect Prior to the Specialist contract being created I was employed as an AS (trust created for R&R purposes despite it not being an official contracted role anymore), my trust then asked if I would like to go onto the Specialist contract when it was started.
We’ll be bringing the boats out tomorrow when the @hastingsjitg parade is on until 4 (operations permitting). Light refreshments will be available and crew will be on hand to answer any questions. We’re also proud have people in the parade.
This is such a beautiful articulation and defense of the EM doc from a Geriatrician.
The burnout data speaks for itself. Atleast on shift, no other speciality is working as hard as regularly. Be it day (except GPs) or nights. It's relentless. And often it verges on dangerous.
@gaswomancometh @RobJimFleming @theSAScollect NEVER! Love being an Emergency Specialist doctor. Grateful that I didn’t have to move from my home town. Grateful that I didn’t have to worry about rotations and training requirements when factoring in maternity leave, plus MANY other pluses.

@DrEilidhMaria I’m sorry you’re all feeling that way. @sascollective is currently championing the SAS way of life. It’s definitely something to be considered if you’re feeling the need to take a break from the training rat race.
@stuie17@DrEilidhMaria This is what happened to me. And why I opted out of training posts to become an SAS doctor so that I could stay in my home town, settle and have a family.
