⚠️ Update: #Iran's internet blackout is now the longest nation-scale internet shutdown on record in any country, exceeding all other comparable incidents in severity having entered its 37th consecutive day after 864 hours.
Sharif University of Technology in Tehran, one of Iran’s top science and engineering institutions, was bombed tonight, and a number of schools reportedly damaged.
Founded in 1966 (as Aryamehr University), Sharif is a cornerstone of Iran’s scientific and academic life.
Striking and destroying universities and schools is not just an attack on buildings,it is an attack on a country’s future.
Iran belongs collectively to all Iranians, a people with 7,000 years of civilization who have spent the last 47 years fighting oppression and destruction. We have spent decades resisting with empty hands or choosing the bitter path of exile.
The infrastructure and power plants of this land belong to the freedom-seeking people of Iran. Threatening to turn Iran into "hell" is exactly what we’ve been fighting against for 47 years
In a rare interview from inside Iran and behind its internet blackout, Iranian photojournalist @yaldamoayeri tells me U.S. and Israeli attacks have collapsed homes and killed civilians - and describes their calls for the Iranian people to take down the regime “completely nonsense.” Yes, she says, many people still support the war.
The Islamic Republic is actively killing Narges Mohammadi who been prison for over six months now. She has suffered a heart attack in Zanjan prison and the prison authorities have refused to transfer her to hospital. She was sentenced to another 7.5 years of imprisonment two months ago. They know she can mobilize the opposition forces and potentially lead the opposition groups who are fighting for democracy in Iran. And that’s why they are committing such atrocities to silence and ultimately kill her. All opposition forces and humanitarian organizations and world politicians must immediately launch an emergency campaign to call for her immediate treatment and release from prison.

Iran’s political prisoners are particularly vulnerable right now, caught between bombs and the regime. A new animated short documentary, That Night, helps shed a light on the voices of those trapped behind bars. It focuses on a fire at Evin Prison in 2022, and director Hoda Sobhani tells me that the trauma of just that one night still lingers for those who lived through it: “I can’t imagine what [prisoners] are going through right now.”
On 29 March–after weeks of persistent follow-up and despite the compounded difficulties amid the armed conflict and shutdown of virtually all forms of communications by the Iranian government, Mohammadi’s legal team, accompanied by one family member, visited her in Zanjan Prison under heightened security surveillance.
Her general health was extremely poor, and she appeared pale and weak with significant weight loss when brought to the visitation room by a prison nurse.
Mohammadi reported that following a loss of consciousness at the Mashhad detention center, a specialist urgently recommended an angiography; instead, she was transferred to Zanjan Prison.
She noted that shortly after the war began, reports of nearby strikes and massive explosions heard from within the prison, added to her severe stress.
Most recently on 31 March, U.S and Israel airstrikes hit south of Zanjan, only several kilometers away from the prison where Mohammadi is kept alongside prisoners convicted of violent crimes, including murder and drug offenses.
Reports also indicate that some of these prisoners have constantly subjected her to harassment, abuse, and threats.

May freedom rise over our homeland
Seventeen prominent Iranian human rights and civil society figures, including filmmakers, lawyers and justice advocates, said on January 28, 2026, that Islamic Republic Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and the country’s ruling structure bear responsibility for what they described as an “organised state crime against humanity,” citing mass killings, arbitrary arrests and the systematic repression of protesters.
In a joint statement, the signatories said the authorities’ use of live ammunition against demonstrators, the killing of tens of thousands, widespread arrests, and the denial of medical care to the wounded amounted to a betrayal of the Iranian nation and a direct assault on citizens’ fundamental rights.
"The mass killing of justice, seekers who courageously protested this illegitimate system was an organized state crime against humanity. Firing on civilians, taking tens of thousands of lives, arresting tens of thousands more, attacking the wounded, and denying medical care are acts against Iran’s security and betrayal of the homeland.
Responsibility lies with the Islamic Republic’s Leader and his repressive system, which sacrifices citizens’ rights and self-determination to survive, falsely labeling them as “rioters” or “enemies.”
Decades of experience show that Iran’s main obstacle is Ali Khamenei and the ruling religious despotism, whose continued existence spreads death, accelerates societal collapse, and deepens the nation’s ruin. Confrontational policies have kept Iran in crisis for years, and now the threat of war looms more than ever.
At this critical moment, with our homeland’s future darker than ever, we stress the urgent need for justice for the killed and freedom for all political prisoners. Blind power resists change, but Iran can only be saved by prosecuting those behind repression, ending the inhumane system in power, and forming a broad national front to hold a referendum and constituent assembly, allowing all Iranians to democratically decide their political future.
Anything less risks a cycle of violence.
May freedom rise over our homeland."

Europe stands up to be counted.
Designating the Iranian regime's oppressive IRGC as a terrorist organisation is the right decision, that even a few weeks ago so many said was impossible.
Proud of the European Parliament's sustained, unified effort that helped push this breakthrough.
Now, time to stand strong. Iran will be free.
