life has always been like this my parents had an amazing 20s and 30s living in cramped apartments and shared houses. people still do this today. cool people do this. you need to go outside
“you don’t have to go outside! you can host a party at your place!”
at our parents’ house, or at the tiny apartment that we reluctantly share with roommates we’re barely cordial with?
i know it’s subjective but sometimes people tell me about their super small towns and schools, then i drop that my graduating class (public school!) was ~150 and that was the largest one in decades and they’re like “oh… well… not that small”
all this audrey hobert hate on the TL but as an actual teen girl and not a washed 30 yo gay guy… who’s the clown is required listening imo for any young woman: relationships, self esteem, loneliness,desire- she executes it all with clever writing thats actually fun to listen to!
If you are a mid to late zoomer (2004-2008) you probably read this in school in English class and watched the movie I feel like this book radicalised a whole generation into blackpill and looksmaxxing more than people like clavicular ever could dream of
This is something I actually think we’ve done really well. My kiddos have spent the night at more people’s houses than anyone I know IRL. Friends or family. Our house has been the first “non family sleepover” for literally 50+ kids.
My children have had big girl/big boy “molestation talks” (I have no clue what to call this) since they were old enough (4-5yo) to ever be around others alone.
- Adults never need a child’s help
- Adults never need you naked
- Adults never need to touch you near your penis, vagina or breasts
- Adults never need you to touch them
There is a lot more nuance than this and we have discussed a million different dynamics. Friends’ siblings, cousins, uncles, teachers, coaches… etc.
Even to this day… I’ll randomly point blank ask my 10yo if his friends’ dad (who I greatly respect) has ever touched him. I’ll ask my daughter about her friends’ parents and siblings. Never let up on your side and they can reap the benefits of a great social childhood.
Sometimes I’ll see the posts talking about how Gen Z as a collective isn’t having sex or drinking or going to parties and I’m like that can’t possible be true because everyone I know does all of those things but then I remembered that I’m cool and all of my friends are cool
